The breakout of the Coronavirus was just like an out-of-syllabus question for most of the people. With people planning their entire year, fascinating about their summer vacation trips, excited about their dream wedding, and making resolutions to stick to their gymming goals, this pandemic brought an unexpected halt to everything around the globe, especially with the lockdown being put into effect in different places.

Besides, it also led to people being stuck in their workplaces or in places they went for weekend gateways, making the situation even worse due to the unavailability of survival resources. With hotels canceling bookings, shops being shut, and traveling being blocked, it created a huge ruckus for everyone.

Live And Let Live!

However, as they say, it is necessary to gulp in the bitter medication to completely be cured of the ailment, in a similar way all this was necessary to control the breakout of the virus and stop it from community transmission. From artists to start-ups, from businesses to exporters, from farmers to educationists, though this created a lot of problems then everyone fought this hand in hand and adjusted and adapted together to the new normal.

But like every coin has two sides, the lockdown has a positive and productive side too. One may or may not realize, but it has been a teacher who has given us several life-lessons seamlessly.

  1. Valuing Simple Pleasure

Happiness Is The Sum Of Little Things

Being shut indoors during the lockdown period, it taught us the value of freedom. It made us realize that things often were taken for granted are things to be valued and cherished, for not everyone and every day one gets to enjoy them

  1. Realizing The Importance Of The Lesser-Valued Job

Not All Heros Wear Capes

Being stuck in the house, it gave us an opportunity to closely see and realize that even when the entire world is on a standstill and everything is halted, the only job that still went on 24×7 was that of a homemaker and mother. Be it waking one up for meetings or ensuring one finishes the breakfast before the online classes, be it catering to the demand of the new dishes posed by her children to keep the house clean, this pandemic showed us how much easier our lives become when such people are around us.

  1. Exploring One’s Self

Exploring The Unexplored Self

Being bored with the work from home culture, this lockdown period also motivated us to explore and realize the hidden talents within us. From playing the Ukulele to painting the canvas, it blessed us with the time to do things we might have always wanted to do but have missed out in our fast-paced life.

  1. Life Skills Upgradation

Embarking On A Journey Of Personal Growth

Being locked indoors, especially for those away from home, it gave us the time to learn life skills. From washing dishes to cooking, from mopping the house to folding the clothes, it made us realize that things considered trivial aren’t actually trivial at all.

  1. Enjoying The Routine

Missing The Routined Life

With the lockdown giving us the always-wanted pause in life, it led to the realization that life without flow and direction is life disoriented. Mundane the routine may seem or boring it may seem the 9 to 5 job, but our entire life schedule being cantered around them gives everything we do a purpose. And, though we always wanted to pause and take a breath, the lockdown showed us that when pausing becomes a part of the daily routine, it becomes buffering – buffering to find a motivation to do things

  1. Me-Time

Let Us Heal Ourselves

Lastly, this lockdown taught us the importance of me-time. In our pursuit of being extrovert or in becoming the social butterfly, we never realized how important it was to give ourselves some time – time to relax, rejuvenate, and refresh. However, with no one around in this shutdown period, the importance of befriending oneself and that of me-time dawned upon us

Thus, on one hand, where the COVID has left an eternal scar on the face of mankind which may take years to heal, on the other, the lockdown imposed in various different parts of the world gave us the time to experience the simple pleasures of life and to realize the importance and the beauty of the little things.
