94 YEAR DMK PATRIARCH M. KARUNANIDHI IS DEAD

The pall of gloom decended in the DMK camp and the residence of late M Karunanidhi at Chennai after the tallest leader of DMK and Tamilnadu was declared dead at 6.10 P. M. by the Executive Director of Kaveri Hospital, Chennai where he was under trearment for last few days.

The 95 year old veteran leader of DMK having been the chief minister for five terms from 1969 to 2011 breathed his last after suffering from several severe age related ailments.

Starting his political career as the script writer of Tamilnadu films M. Karunanidhi rose to the top slot of the state as the chief minister after the death of DMK founder Annadurai.

He was first the cabinet minister in the DMK founder Annadurai’s ministry in Tamilnadu who later on became chief minister after his leaders sad demise.

Initially, the popular film star MGR was in DMK with Karunanidhi but lateron developed cracks to form AIADMK which ruled Tamilnadu several times under MGR and later on under J. Jaya Lalitha.

Karunanidhi always had the say in the central politics and got ministerial berths for DMK in various government at the centre. He is considered to be the tallest leader, a patriarch of DMK and Tamilnadu.

His death has created a huge void in Tamilnadu’s politics which would be difficult to fill say his supporters.

Several political dignitories hailing from different parties have expressed their grief over the sad demise of the former chief minister of Tamilnadu and a patriarch of DMK and are flying to Chennai to pay their last tributes in his cremation.

In a press released issued by the Kaveri hospital, its executive director, said : With deep anguish, we announce the demise of our beloved Kalaingar Dr. M. Karunanidhi on 7.8. 2018 at 6.10. P. M.

Despite the best possible efforts by our team of doctors and nurses to resusticate him, he failed to respond. We profoundly mourn the loss of the tallest leaders of India and we share the grief of family members and fellow Tamilians worldwide.
