7th Pay Commission: A big salary hike forthcoming in January 2019
The Maharashtra Government is ready to execute the proposals of the pay commission soon. This is certainly a good news in connection with the 7th pay commission for a certain segment of the employees.
Enforcement soon
The Maharashtra Government has planned to enforce the recommendations of the pay commission according to Deepak Kesarkar, Junior Finance Minister. He made this announcement in the Legislative Council in reply to a question asked by Question Hour.
Reportedly, he mentioned that the state government had established a committee under KP Bakshi, a retired bureaucrat and it’s report would be released soon. However, he added that the government would not wait for the report and the implementation of 7th pay commission will begin from January 2019.
When will it be implemented?
The Junior Finance Minister reportedly said that the proposals of the pay panel would be enforced from January 2019 onwards. The good news for the employees is just a month away.
5 day week norm
Reportedly, the minister also said that the consent would be taken by the Bakshi committee on the constant demand by the employees for the five day week working in Maharashtra state as adopted by the Centre.
Retrospective effect
The minister also added that the arrears of the 7th pay commission will be provided with retrospective effect from January 2016 . The dearness allowance will be provided with retrospective effect from the last 14 months. To pay the arrears of 7th pay commission from January 2016, the state would require Rs20,000 crore. The government would need Rs5,000 crore yearly to revise the pay band width for nearly 19 lakh government employees.
