Ghaziabad Development Authority Form 11-Member Committee To Resolve Builder-Buyer Conflict

GDA i.e. the Ghaziabad Development Authority formed an 11-member conciliation forum which is made compulsory by the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-Rera) in order to resolve disputes between developers/builders and buyers.

At present, nearly 12,000 buyers are having disputes with builders in the Ghaziabad city.

According to the officials, the committee comprises of five members each from RWAs [Residents’ Welfare Associations], builders’ body CREDIA and one member of the Ghaziabad Development Authority. For approval, we have forwarded these names to Abrar Ahmed, the Secretary of UP-Rera.

An officer on Special duty at GDA said that the 11-member conciliation forum includes Alok Kumar, President of Federation of Apartment Owners Association, TP Tyagi will represent RWA and Manoj Gaur is nominated as a member to represent CREDAI. Similarly, RP Singh, the Executive Engineer will be a member of this committee from GDA. He further said that the authority has already sent names to UP-Rera Secretary and the committee will soon commence its working.

In November 2018, the UPRERA proposed formation of this kind of committee in 15 development authorities and three industrial authorities of the State that also includes Ghaziabad Development Authority.

Singh, was quoted saying that other than Ghaziabad, the process to form a committee is under process in Meerut, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Aligarh, Kanpur, Jhansi, Allahabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway areas.

The officials said that UPRERA will select the homebuyer’s complaint and then contact the developer/builder via the development or industrial authority of the respective locality. “

The ODS said that date will be fixed by the authority with mutual consent of the buyer and builder to appear in front of this 11-member committee in their respective authorities. Both the parties will have to abide by the decision made by this committee.
