In order to make the process of procuring, renewing an arms license in the National Capital easier the Delhi Police have now started online application facility for people wanting to procure an arms license. A personal interview would also be conducted once the application has been approved. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police inaugurated the online services on Thursday.

The applicants can now apply and upload the required documents online for availing various services related to arms licences just with clicks. People would not have to visit the licensing unit time and again and can revie the status of their application online itself. The payment can also be made online.

Not just paper work would reduce but the travel time as well as the queue and doubts which people have can all be checked online. Even the officers at the licensing unit will be able to give out a better output of work with everything available to them at the click of a mouse. The system links all 15 districts and the licensing units for online processing.

The physical interface between police and the applicant would reduce and a time-bound service delivery will be ensured. The applicant will be required to visit the licensing unit only for the personal interview before the licensing authority, and for the mandatory training on weapon handling and weapon inspection.

With a view to ensuring ‘ease of doing business’, the “online module for receipt and processing of application” for the grant of Arms Licences and other related services is the latest digital initiative by Delhi Police.

The Licensing Unit has the onerous task of not only granting licences but also of ensuring that all the licence conditions are strictly enforced so that the cardinal requirements of safety, security and convenience of citizens are not compromised. Thestandard templates for field enquiries and other in-house processing have been developed to facilitate an objective assessment of applications.
