Mumbai: Man killed in daylight firing at Kurla, one detained for questioning
A known history-sheeter, the deceased Janu Pawar alias Billa was out on bail in connection with a murder case. He had a long list of criminal offences registered against him at VB Nagar police station.
The incident was reported at Kurla west area where the accused duo who were on a bike, approached Pawar and open fired at him.
Before the other local pedestrians could understand what exactly happened, the accused fled from the spot. After the police were alerted, Pawar’s body, lying in a pool of blood, was rushed to Sion Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
A senior police officer said they have detained one person who is being questioned for his alleged role in the murder.
The accused fired two rounds and then fled on their vehicles. We have detained one suspect and are questioning him and also a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. We are investigating the case from all possible angles to track down the accused,” the officer said, requesting anonymity.
“The deceased had many cases registered against him at Kurla and VB Nagar police station,” he added.
