I will not join any political party. Col Kothiyal gives up. Not to contest from Pauri Garhwal seat

The hero of the reconstruction in the aftermath of the Kedarnath ecological catostrohpe Colonel Ajay Kothiyal has finally decided not to contest from Pauri, Garhwal constituency against the forces of reaction, divisiveness, communalism, authoriarianism n crony capitalism, knowing very well that ultra nationalism and hindu polarisation is at work n that people with impeccable integrity, morality and pro people agenda has no place in democracy as it’s majorly the money, muscle n liquor power that finally has its say. Had it not been the case, candidates with social responsibility, morality, impeccable integrity n clear cut constructive vision for new Uttarakhand would not have been constrained to withdraw from the contest.

We sincerely hope that he will continue to serve the people of Uttarakhand selflessly as a true n selfless soldier with dedication, zeal, enthusiasm n integrity as before. His decision, however, is being considered as a far sighted one after proper discussion amongst his followers n friends. Addressing a press conference today at Dehradun Colonel Ajay Kothiyal while announcing his decision not to contest from Pauri Garhwal constituency as an Independent reiterated his commitment to work for public welfare and well being with a renewed commitment, vigour n vitality though his Youth Foundation.

He said that he will not join any political party in future but would continue to selflessly work for the people of Uttarakhand.

While contradicting about the possibility of inquiry into the rehabilitation n reconstruction work in Kedarnath against the most challenging and odd situations n under minus degree temperatures Colonel Kothiyal said that he is fully prepared to face any inquiry but also added that instead to adopting the revengeful n vindictive attitude the govt should enquire into the good work done by his Youth Foundation.

Sources reveal that colonel Kothiyal who is extremely popular in Pauri Garhwal constituency amongst the the exservicemen, youths, students n women includung the intellectual community had helped about 8000 youths in seeking employment in Indian Army and paramilitary by giving them free of cost training at her own expense by organising training camps in various districts of Uttarakhand n had almost toured the entire constituency for the last one year.

The 8000 youths employed in Indian Army have even assured him of donating one months salary n about 1200 committed youths of Youth Foundation already working in villages to canvass support for him. But after proper discussions with his dedicated workers and intellectual friends including senior retired army officers, Colonel Kothiyal decided to give stay out of the contest thus bringing Manish Khanduri into direct contest with the BJP’s Tirath Singh Rawat in the contest. Had Colonel contested he would have been number two in the contest n could have even improved his chances despite being independent.

But instead of wasting tremendous expenditure on the election may be in crores, he preferred to stay out of the contest. Sources reveal that his well wishers suggested him to prepare for MLA election in 2022 so that he is better placed in the state politics in an elevated position, may be the next CM of the state, keeping in view his increasing popularity n high respect amongst the general masses in Garhwal, Uttarakhand.
