Relief to traders from sealing and GST is my top priority:

New Delhi, The Congress party’s candidate from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency JP Agarwal in his home turf has vociferously raised the issues of sealing and GST in his election campaign. Taking a jibe on the Modi government over ‘Acche Din’, he said that people of Delhi are still waiting for ‘Acche din’ promises to be fulfilled.

Agarwal said, “BJP President Amit Shah labeled the promise as ‘Jumla’. Now they have no moral grounds to ask for votes. Firstly, they need to fulfill the promises made to 1.25 billion people in 2014, then they should come up with new slogans. BJP’s decision of sealing, Demonetisation, and GST has drastically affected the traders.”

The four times former Congress MP campaigned in Multani Muhalla of Chandni Chowk. After inaugurating a party office at Shanti Nagar Chowk, Rani Bagh, he met the voters of Jain Colony, Rani Bagh, Gujranwala, Kalyan Vihar, CC Colony, and Shakti Vihar Pitampura.

Agarwal targeted PM Narendra Modi for politicizing the martyrdom of jawans. He alleged, “Modi is asking first-time voters to cast their votes in the name of CRPF jawans, who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Since independence, no PM has ever stooped to such a level. They (Modi government) are asking for votes over the issues of pseudo-nationalism and hyper-patriotism. They betrayed the people’s mandate. DeMo and GST gave a dent to small and medium traders. Many people died in the serpentine queue during currency exchange after Demonetisation.

JP Agarwal also slammed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and asked about his role in sealing when the traders in Delhi were suffering due to this draconian move. Recalling the same crisis in 2006, he said that the Congress government provided solution form sealing within a fortnight, now AAP and BJP, both are mute spectators.

In the election campaign, along with Jay Prakash Agarwal, former MLA Kunwar Karan Singh Adarsh Nagar, Congress President Hari Kishan Jindal, senior Congress leader Kamal Kant Sharma, Chaman Lal Sharma, Devraj Arora, Abha Chaudhary, Satish Luthra, Secretary of Women’s Congress, Aakanksha Ola were also present.

Akanksha said that if the people of Delhi do not want to be penalized for the next five years, then they should be cautious. She said, “Before you vote, think of which candidate can pick up your problems properly. The new generation should not be influenced by those who only spell jumlas. They should think about which government can work for their benefit.”
