After the resignation of Rahul Gandhi as Congress president there is a feeling of unease amongst the senior party leaders and chief ministers of the Congress ruled states who’d also tried to pursuade Nehru Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi to take back his resignation but of no avail.

How disturbed and concerned are these leaders and some of the  chief ministers of  the Congress ruled states can be gauged from the recent tweet of the Punjab chief minister Captain  Amrinder Singh who’d while expressing his concern over Rahul Gandhi’s resignation, termed it as unfortunate urging the senior party leaders and the Congress Working Committee to hand over the cudgels of the party in the hands of a dynamic young Congressman than the old guard respecting the sentiments of the youth of the country who comprise of majority population and work at grassroots.
Captain Amrinder Singh has tweeted : An unfortunate decision of @ RahulGandhi to quit, hope to see another dynamic youth leader as @ INC India president to galvanise the party.
Urge CWC to take note of young India’s need for a young leader, alligned to aspirations of its large youth population & with grass root connect.
It may be recalled that after the resignation of Congress president Rahul Gandhi offering his desire to quit in the CWC after the party’s debacle at the hustings, the highest decision making body of Congress had not accepted his request to quit but had asked him to continue to rejuvenate the party but Rahul Gandhi was adamant and he finally resigned.
There were rumours about Captain Amrinder Singh, for the president’s post apart from other names such as those of Rajesh Pilot’s son Sachin Pilot, deputy CM Rajasthan and the CM Ashok Gehlot.
But nothing of the sort materialised. While resigning from the 134 year old party’s presidentship Rahul took the full responsibility on his head and resigned on moral grounds keeping all the speculations at rest.
He had released a four page letter while quitting which suggested that the CWC form a committee and choose a new party president at the earliest.
Rahul said he would continue his fight against the rival BJP on ideological grounds with a ten time more force, power and commitment despite his not being the party president.
His sister Priyanka Gandhi had then tweeted  praising Rahul for his courageous decision and congratulating him for the same.
Meanwhile Rahul’s protege and party general secretary incharge of Assam Congress Harish Rawat had also resigned two days ago taking the moral responsibility for the poor show of the party in Uttarakhand and Assam at the hustings.
Rawat is also the former chief minister of Uttarakhand who lost the lok sabha from Nainital, Uttarakhand by more than whpping 3 lakh votes and had also lost earlier in 2017 assembly elections from two legislative seats in the hill state.
The BJP had won the Uttarakhand state election then winning a historic 57 seats reducing Congress to merely the party of 13 MLAs, lowest since achieving the separate state of Uttarakhand on 9th November 2000 similarly as it lost in Lok Sabha polls winning merely 52 seats out of 534 in total.
Several other state presidents of Congress has resigned following suit after Rahul’s resignation. There is a sort of war between the young turks and old guards in the Congress party and the pressure is mounting on the central leadership that the presidents of 17 states where the party lost badly should take accountability on their heads and resign forthwith.
