Late leader Arun Jaitley’s ashes immersed in pious Ganges at Haridwar
The ashes of the mortal remains of the former Union finance minister and a towering leader of BJP Arun Jaitley were today immersed in the pious Ganges after the performance of rituals.
The ashes of the late leader were immersed by his son Rohan with tears in his eyes in the presence of the chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and the union minister for Human Resource Development and MP from Haridwar Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
The close relatives of the grief-stricken family of the deceased leader and a large number of followers, BJP workers and state leaders were also present on this occasion. Before immersing his ashes a brief condolence meeting was held at the bank of Ganges at Haridwar.
Earlier in a day, late leader’s son Rohan and wife went to Nigam Bodh Ghat to collect his ashes for immersion in the pious Ganges. Several senior leaders and ministers like Rajnath Singh, Union home minister Amit Shah, etc were present at the time of bidding a final adieu to late Arun Jaitley at Nigam Bodh Ghat.
Former finance minister Arun Jaitley had passed away in AIIMS on Saturday at the age of 66. He was suffering from Cancer. Jaitley was admitted in AIIMS cardiology department on 9th August when he complained of breathlessness and chest pain.
He was put on a ventilator and was being closely monitored by the multi-disciplinary doctors and surgeons of neurology, nephrology and cardiology departments. He had a kidney transplant in May this year and was highly diabetic as well.
The President, Vice President, Prime Minister and top leaders across the political spectrum and hundreds of thousands of party workers had expressed their grief and condolences on Jaitley’s sad demise. He was indeed a great leader and a capable organizer known as the troubleshooter of the saffron party and prime minister Narendra Modi.
