Animes are interesting! Whether it can be clubbed with cartoons (NOT!) is a debate for another time. I think most of the people I know are into anime, be it action or rom-com. Do you know what else I find interesting? Video games! They are relaxing and a good way to pass the time. I can safely assume none of the gamers agree with the concept of “game-addiction”. There is no such thing!

Today I bring to you some game-based animes that any gamer with love for anime would appreciate. But if you are neither, don’t worry, after going through this you will reconsider your choices!

SWORD ART ONLINE: This takes place in the distant future and tells the story of the protagonist as he plays his way through different virtual reality MMORPG worlds. Even though I haven’t watched it myself, I’ve heard a lot of praise from my friends. It has a light plot and a considerable amount of fanservice. It is considered to be one of the best game-based animes right now!

CORPSE PARTY: Even though it is argued that the anime is not as good as the game or the manga, I just couldn’t help myself. So, here it is. I’ve included this here for the sole reason of how gory it is. Corpse party is a torrent of blood and beheaded children. It is a dream come true for fans of gore.

NET JUU NO SUSUME: A female protagonist with a male online avatar, a depressed 30-year old finds comfort in the virtual world. Her peaceful world is disrupted when virtual life and reality crash! In this anime, we’ll find loving complications, wondrous fun, and unwavering gaming spirit.

HACK//G.U TRILOGY: I had seen advertisements about this anime but never got around to watching it. But when I did, I thought about why I didn’t watch it before. The designs are marvelous and the plot itself has an aura of mystery around it. The suspense will make you want to come back for more!

OVERLORD:  Imagine falling into a video game with no way to return back. Seems clichéd, right? But what if you were a super strong skeleton with your own dark legion to command? Why would you want to come back? This dark fantasy anime promises hours of entertainment.

NO GAME NO LIFE: If you like sword art online, you cannot miss this one. The series follows a group in search of power. They’re looking to destroy the god of games and usurp his throne. With many visual treats and colorful animations, you are sure to find this entertaining.

KAKEGURUI: Kakegurui is a story from inside Japan’s most exclusive private school. Catering to only the richest kids, the academy has the quirks that separate it from all the others. It is a normal school by day, but at night, it turns into a gambling den, educating students in the art of dealing with money and manipulating people. Its hierarchy is determined by who is the best gambler. Enter the insane Yumeko who decides to topple this hierarchy.

GAMBLING APOCALYPSE, KAIJI: In the running since 1996, Kaiji is another gambling story. It has an unbelievable 71 volumes to its name. I wonder how they find the material for it. But hey, it is pretty popular with the Japanese crowd.
