A turnabout officer who turns losses into profits- ASHWANI LOHANI

It is seldom seen that an officer in the government job is recognized by the prime minister of the country singularly and allocated the key responsibilities of those departments which were running in colossal losses but after that officer’s taking charge these departments running in huge losses in a short span of time turn into profit making organisations and not only this but its entire work force that earlier used to be complacent and ignorant gets fully rejuvenated and feels extremely happy to work under his command.

 

Yes i am talking about none other but an outstanding officer with four engineering degrees and coveted Limca books of record holder, the newly appointed Chairman of Railway board Ashwani Lohani who is famous as a turnaround man of India having brought all corporations which he led into extreme profits including the vast and complex AIR INDIA from the whopping losses of 2000 crores to the profit of 150 crores in a short span of time action while being at its helm. An officer with impeccable integrity, perseverance, fully committed to his job, highly innovative, used to confronting challenges and bettering them with his hard and intelligent innovative actions and initiatives, hailing from Kashipur, Uttarakhand and educated in a convent school Ashwani Lohani is a hard nut to be cracked as far as compromising with work culture or corruption is concerned.

 

While being the CMD of ITDC’s Hotel Ashok and ITDC,  Madhya Pradesh including his various stints in Railways Lohani’s work culture and his respect for the entire staff right from the top to bottom and involving them into responsibilities as an elder, younger brother or a fatherly figure was phenomenal. Credit goes to him for making the oldest locomotive engine of the British era Fairy Queen getting modernized and rejuvenated and making records of the sorts. Ashwani Lohani is outstandingly unique and I am not praising him because I have any interest whatsoever, but being an Uttarakhandi and a citizen of India and an impartial journalist too, I consider it my moral duty to highlight his achievements as an officer of revolutionary innovations and people friendly results though the outcomes also help governments. 

 

Ashwani Lohani is an intelligent and an outstanding guy indeed who is too close and nostalgic to the fellow UTTARAKHANDIS being himself from Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Lohani is a prolific writer and a vivacious reader too who’ v nicely articulated several articles in various prestigious national dailies of the country particularly the much read, ‘The Pioneer Daily’.  Lots and lots can be written about Ashwani Lohani but what makes him more favorite of the common masses is the fact that he is a Facebook user as well with posting his brief and precise significant posts for the benefit of the later. He acknowledges tremendous likes and comments from his more friends than rather negligible foes or critics.

 

Ashwani Lohani may be a bureaucrat for many but in a real sense he is a pro people officer having a pro people tilt and an aspiration for doing something good for the country in whichever department he works being at the helm. I as a journalist having met him just once or twice at public functions and have come to a conclusion that he is simply great who is born for doing something outstanding, innovative and pro people for the country’s benefit and well being.
