5. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has condemned the violence that occurred on Singhu border on Friday when the farmers and the locals clashed with each other. He alleged that the violence was perpetrated by some miscreants and urged the Centre to conduct a thorough probe to identify the miscreants and ascertain where they came from.

6. The group claiming to be locals demanded that the farmers vacate the Singhu border, one of the main protest sites around the capital, alleging that they had “insulted” the national flag during their tractor parade on Republic Day.

7. Union Minister Smriti Irani on Friday evening accused Rahul Gandhi of “declaring war on the people of India”. 10. The govt has announced for the launch of Start-up India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) on January 29, 2021. The scheme will be in mission mode for the year 2021-25. 1. Nepal Re-Opens Border With India With Certain Restrictions: The Nepal government had ordered the closing of its borders with India and Nepal from March 23 last year to prevent the spread of coronavirus but Indian citizens will still need permission to cross the border via land.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition of Indo Gulf Fertilisers by Indorama India Private Limited (IIPL) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002. : IIPL is principally engaged in the manufacture, trading and sale of fertilisers, primarily, phosphatic fertilisers and speciality plant nutrients.

3. The fifth joint meeting of the India-Japan Act East Forum was held between India and Japan on January 28, 2021. The meeting was co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and the Ambassador of Japan to India, Suzuki Satoshi.

US President Joe Biden has withdrawn a Donald Trump-era rule rescinding work authorisation for H4 visa holders, who are spouses of those possessing H-1B work visas, with the majority being highly-skilled Indian women. An H-4 visa is issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to immediate family members (spouse and children under 21 years of age) of the H-1B visa holders, most of whom are Indian IT professionals. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise
