Rape is the most horrendous crime in my eyes and murder, that too the brutal and gruesome one is even more despicable not to be pardoned at any cost. The recent case of a 9 year old girl child Asifa Bano in Kathua who’d been first gangraped obnoxiously and then murdered most brutally and an another case in Gujarat where a minor was raped with 86 inflicted wounds finally succumbed to severe injuries are two such instances after the most outrageous incident of the gang rape and subsequent barbaric murder of a 23 year old paramedic in 2012 that finally lead us to the conclusion that such barbaric and cruel human beasts should not be spared at any costs but given capital punishment, come what may.

On the one hand the governments innovate stringent laws against such acts such as the one brought out in the shape of an ordinance to accord death penalty to the rapists of below 12 year old minors, recently but on the other hand gives the rapists and obnoxious killers of the Nirbhaya of 2012, a paramedic, a chance to go to higher courts to seek amnesty to the death sentence already awarded to them by the lower courts is something beyond expectation, though we know justice demands giving opportunity even to hardened criminals.

However, there is no denying the fact that the media and judiciary of the country has played a vital role in arousing public opinion and had always been in the forefront to give due justice to the hapless victims of the rapes and subsequent murders. The case of Jessica Lal unambiguously vindicates this fact as to how the culprits who had earlier gone scot free were finally brought to justice through media trial and the judicious verdicts of our intelligent judges.

Public opinion says that in the cases of the rarest of the rare nature as was the case of Nirbhaya and Asifa of Kathua there should not be any leniency towards the hardened culprits or the human beasts who have no terror of and respect for the laws of the land.

As per the news pouring in the four dreaded criminals have filed the petition in the Apex court requesting for turning their death sentence into life imprisonment citing the grounds of their being poor, having no criminal background and not having been named by the victim while giving statement to the police in her last dying declaration.

The matter has been kept in abeyance for the next hearing. It may be recalled that out of the 5 culprits one has already committed suicide by hanging in Tihar prison, Delhi and the actual culprit having allegedly commited the grusome crime of inserting the rod inside the private parts of the victim before mercilessly killing her alongwith others had already passed his sentence in the reformation centre being the adoloscent below eighteen years.

Sounds shocking and ironical that such most obnoxious rapists and killers having already got death sentence are being giving the opportunity to plead further whose most condemnable despicable actions have literally shattered the humanity around the world during and after this horribly shocking incident. Majority of the public opinion of the country is for no mercy for such rarest of the rare cases of gruesome nature.

Afterall the law of the land should be robust and stringent enough to send across an effective deterrent and the honourable courts of the country have been doing so in several such sensitive cases. Though capital punishment has been banned in several countries of the west in order to give chances of reformation to the culprits in future but in cases such as Nirbhaya, Kathua and Gujarat where horrendous and despicable cases of rape and murders were committed the national and international public outrage demands no less than capital punishment.

This is actually the need of the hour. However, we salure the Indian judiciary for always having come to the rescue of oppressed and being always forthcoming in passing historical judgements as in the case of Nirbhaya of Vasant Vihar Delhi and Najafgarh in which the rapists n killers were sentenced to death sending across a strong message to the perpetrators of such shameful and obnoxious crimes.
