DELHI BECOMES THE TOXIC GAS CHAMBER ON DEEPAWALI MIDNIGHT FLOUTING THE APEX COURTS’ ORDERS

There had been an open and outright violation of the Supreme Court’s verdict on using fire crackers on the Deepawali night in Delhi defying the 8 to 10 PM limit to 12 O clock n even ahead of that till 1.00 AM with bursting of crackers goung unabated in whole of Delhi with the law enforcing agencies, particularly the police agencies literally doing nothing or negligible to enforce the court’s directives. There have been instances of 99 percent increase in the Air Quality Index in certain areas of Delhi at 11.00 PM on 7th November with Delhites not able to breathe properly especially those suffering from the respiratory disorders, lungs ailments, tuber ulosis, various cardiological disorders and cancer.

If one goes through the statistics or horrible table of AQI of yesterday night one would be shocked to learn that even in posh areas like Greater Kailash, Cannaught Place, Jangpura Lajpat Nagar, and semi reputed locations like Rohini, Wazirpur, Model Town, Mukerjee Nagar, Prashant Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Hastsal, Uttam Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Uttari Pritam Pura and Deepali etc etc the PM 2.5 level has crossed above 15000 points to 2200 points creating tremendous difficulties for Delhiyes and the residents of the NCR to breathe. In Shastri Nagar near Anand Parbat the AQI went up to 2247 level.

However due to the winds’ flow in.the morning the skies had been cleared of the toxic gases up to some extent bringing considerable relief for the Delhites. There have been several incidents of fire in Delh8 causing tremendous losses but no casualty was reported, thankfully. Even most prestigious vicinities’ like Chanakyapuri and Major Dhyan Chand Stadium area witnessed AQI at 999 and 454 measured as the immensely polluted levels.

In fact of we go by the AQI table posted by ANI in its twitter handle Delhi has definitely become a gas chamber already suffering from green house gases emissions, grave vehicular pollution emanating out of 80 lakh two, three and four wheelers plyong on Delhi roads oncluding the construction pollution, gases coming out of airconditioners, stubble burning and diesal emissions from vehicles and thousands of trucks passing through Delhi on daily basis to other states.

Delhi is inhabitated majorly by population in the 80 percent of the areas which does not come under the posh and standarised locations and they are the one who’d actually suffered due tp tbe bDly worsening AQI having crossed from 1500 PM 2.5 points to 2400 points, especially on the Deepavali day flouting the honourable supreme court verdict. This is utterly shameful.

Delhi actually requires maximum number of tree plantations and simutaneous water conservation on a mass scale as the incessant development of Delhi has witnessed large scale felling of trees affecting badly the Delhi’s environmental scenerio.

The CPCB, the union and Delhi governments including the environment ministeries alongwith the corporate sectors, public indertakings and all the stake holders should come together cumulatively and devise ways and means to make Delhi gree amd get rid of the increading pollution in a phased manner through various mobilisation campaigns and reduction in the vehicular n other forms of pollutions.

What’s your take friends?.
