A BIG THANK YOU LOSA
The Lansdowne Old Students’ Association’s inaugural session was indeed, highly exciting and mesmerising, as old Losaites from all over the country attended this two days get together on 9th and 10th June individually as well as with their families to refresh the old memories, nostalgia and interacted with classmates after several years at Lansedowne, a mesmering hill station in the Garhwal Himalayas in Pauri, Garhwal district.
Such harmonic gatherings and interactive meets are significant from the point of view of understanding each other and establishing mutually beneficial and harmonical relations once again after a protracted gap of several decades.
At LOSA meet that happens every year on 9th n 10th june since the last several years, all the old students who studied here at one point of time assemble in Lansedown once annually and exchange pleasentaries including participating in various social and entertainment cultural activities.
Several students who once studied here in Central School, Lansedowne ,other nearby government schools, Degree and PG Colleges and today are in good positions in Army, Airforce, Engineering, entrepreneurship, journalism, writing, social service, theatre, government and private services and other activities, revive their old relationships and enjoy the association by sharing their mutual experiences of their respective fields.
Several old Losaites have now retired from services while many are still in their forties and fifties busy in various fields of occupation.
Yesterday i.e. 9th June was the inaugural session of LOSA celebrations and every LOSAITE was presented a chocolate coloured T Shirt with LOSA inscribed on it and a fantastic black coloured PAHADI CAP as a token of rememberance to every losaite.
During these two days celebrations the outsiders who intend to enroll themselves as LOSA MEMBER with a token fee of Rs 3100 individually n Rs. 3600 with spouse are also invited with a facility of two days stay with breakfast lunch and dinner.including their active participation in the losa activities.
On the first day, every member of the organisation is introduced and tambola played compounded with distribution of various prizes to the lucky winners and the meritorious students including convening of a seminar on an important topic pertaining to the socio political, developmental and educational aspects of the society, state and the country.
People also dance on this occassion to the mesmerising tunes of various pahadi hit songs thus merry making with families and friends after the conclusion of the meet.
LOSA also felicitates the poor and economically deprived students with a 6 thousand rupees annual scholarships or even more, to each of the meritorious students to the tune of Two lakh lakhs in total.
On the second day i.e. 10th of June the entire LOSA team visited the Old Age Home at Jehri Khal namely Radha Devi Vridhashram Ashram run by a social activist Jyoti Rautela and her dedicated team of youngsters and presented Sarees and Jackets, pullovers etc to old ladies n gents living here including a package of financial support, who have been deserted by their near and dear ones’ in acute financial, mental and physical jeopardy.
In the evening a very entertaining cultural evening was organised at the main centre of Lansedown Bazaar where the Uttarakhand’s Forest minister Harak Singh Rawat distributed scholarships to several poor and meritirious students and persons with outstanding abilities including teachers and wished them good luck.
The entire credit for incessantly organising the excellent LOSA meet goes to Dr. Satish Naithani, Janardhan Sharma, Suman Bounthiyal, Rajiv Barthwal, Dr. Satish Kaleshwari, Anil Negi and Col Chandri Patwal etc.
It was indeed and extremely interesting and not to be forgotten event which provided one and all, a significant opportunity to interact with friends and well wishers who’d thronged Lansedown from different nook and corners of the country. A big THANK YOU LOSA.
