A candidate who’s fighting on Tehri seat on the issue of Cow n Ganga poses challenge to BJP
An independent candidate from Tehri Garhwal constituency fighting election against the heavy weight candidates of BJP Maharani Rajya Laksmi Shah n Uttarakhand Congress chief Pritam Singh has made the contest triangular.
Gopalmani is a renowned Bhagwat Story teller( Kathawaachak n Gau rakshak) and is primarily fighting the election on Cow protection n Ganga cleanliness plank sidelining all other issues, primarily.
His coming into the fray in Tehri parliamentary constituency has made the election a three cornered contest, with the BJP ‘s Maharani Lakshmi, the sitting MP in a tight spot as it’s being felt that Gopalmani will straightaway intrude into the Saffron party’s vote bank thus directly helping the Congress candidate, the six time MLA, former minister in Uttarakhand State n Congress President Pritam Singh.
However, the strong pro Modi undercurrent in Uttarakhand is still intact n may further go up after his rally in Garhwal region in the coming days.
Rahul Gandhi too is likely to address a public meeting on 6th of April while BJP Supremo Amit Shah is likely to address a BJP rally on 3rd in Srinagar, Garhwal.
This is for the first time that a saint exclusively with Cow protection and Ganga purification objectives/ agenda is in the election fray from Tehri Garhwal parliamentary constituency, criticizing the saffron party for not fulfilling their pre election promises on these two issues thus trying to create division in the Hindu polarised votes in the name of Ram Mandir n air strikes post Pulwama.
Gopal Mani himself belongs to Uttarkashi district n therefore his ardent followers also raising the issue of outsiders verses insider in the entire Uttarkashi district. He has a sizeable number of Gau Bhakts in entire Tehri n Uttarakhand who may vote for him thus creating problem for the saffron party in Tehri parliamentary constituency thus helping the Congress technically.
However, the massive silent Modi undercurrent does have its tremendous say all over the himalayan state.
On the contrary, the Congress candidate n president of the state Pritam Singh is a political heavyweight with tremendous support base in Pashwadoon area comprising around 1lak 80 thousand votes.
Maharani Laksmi of BJP hails from the erstwhile king’s family being the family’s Bahu n respected despite her negative points of not having been available n accessible amongst the electorates of her area during her last tenure as MP.
There are total roughly 14 lakh votes in this constituency. Her father in law late Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal was the five time MP from this parliamentary seat. Gopalmani says he did not have a bank account prior to filing his nomination n has to open a new bank account at Dehradun just three days prior to filung the nomination papers from this seat. Sounds interesting.
