After winning in 21 states, would the BJP prepone the 2019 general elections?
Read Time: 3 minutes

The way, the BJP led NDA under the invincible leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi and the juggler of victories in almost all the state elections, the excellent organiser, BJP chief Amit Shah, particularly after the BJP led NDA assumed power at the centre in 2014, are incessantly on a confirmed winning spree thus taking 21 states under their grip, there is every possibility though not confirmed, that the national elections of 2019 actually due for May, may be preponed n held earlier, in view of the existing pro Modi and pro saffron wave in the country very well exhibited by the election results of the last two years.

There are primarily two most convincing reasons as to why the BJP high command would like to go for the early elections? One is the fresh and blind faith of majority of the electorates all over the country on prime minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the influence of majoritarianism, the saffronisation on the voters due to Kashmir problem where Pakistan abetted hard core terrorists n local pro Kashmiri militants are killing innocents and Fauzies n second, the possibility of the country’s scattered non BJP opposition coming together in the near future to pose Narendra Modi and his party a huge challenge in 2019.

The way right from Assam, Uttar Pradesh, to Uttarakhand to Gujarat to left bastion Tripura to Karnataka, electorates have voted for BJP enmass and routed out mighty Congress, SP and CPM without being affected by the much maligned initiatives of the PM Modi viz demonetisation, vast unemployment, GST, sky rocketting inflation, rapes of the minor girl child in Kathua and lynching of the minorities in the name of cow vigilantism, spreading of communal hatred etc the party in power at the centre feels to hold early national election before the pro BJP voters mood gets diluted and the already scattered anti BJP OPPOSITION parties unite before the national election to pose threat to PM Modi and the saffron party.

Moreover, the three states where the BJP is ruling presently for several years viz. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, the chances of anti incumbency are too much and can lead to the defeat of the saffron party in the ensuing elections.

It may be recalled that in the by elections held in Alwar and one more parliamentary constituency, the anti incumbency against the Vasundhara Raje government was so high that the BJP lost in both the seats with a heavy margin at the hands of Congress, unambiguously vindicating the anti incumbency stance n possibilities.

By executing the national elections alongwith these states where the assembly elections are due early, the prime minister would like to use the pro saffron and pro BJP wave for these states as well and if the national election are held together alongwith the above three states, the anti incumbency would dilute and the national pro saffron issues will dominate the scene alongwith the pro Modi image leading to their possible victories.

In a report published in ET, in March, Tokyo-based global financial services firm Nomura said the next Lok Sabha elections could happen earlier than scheduled.

Nomura assigned a 25 per cent probability that the Lok Sabha polls are held in the last quarter of the 2017-18 instead of May 2019 when the term of the present Lok Sabha ends.
