Hindi cinema icon Amitabh Bachchan and powerhouse performer Taapsee Pannu are back together with an intriguing crime drama, Badla. These two super actors were last seen together inPink (2016), a film that won them accolades.Badla, a fast-paced suspense movie with a gripping plot, is packed with intense performances by the actors. It is directed by Sujoy Ghosh, who won a National Award forKahaani (2012).

The project also marks many firsts. It is Taapsee’s first film in the thriller genre and the Big B’s first movie since he completed 50 amazing years in Indian cinema. It is the first collaboration between AB senior and Shah Rukh Khan as actor and producer. The duo also came together for Badla Unplugged, which sees them indulge in some fun banter about their movies and respective careers.

Tracing the journey of Naina (Taapsee’s character), Badla focusses on the interaction between her and her lawyer (played by Bachchan), who attempts to seek the truth. With a tight narrative, Badla promises to be an edge-of-the-seat film with absolutely no room for distraction! The trailer has piqued the curiosity of cinegoers. Taapsee says, “The response is a validation of sorts, pretty much of what happened in 2018, of my choices and work. It gives me the confidence and reassurance that people have accepted me. That’s why, this year, I could push a lot of boundaries for myself, making it difficult for myself.”

Talking about teaming up with Sujoy again, Mr Bachchan says, “Sujoy and I have worked before and have known each other for long. There is always a sense of ease working with him… he is an intelligent mind and brings his creativity along with it.”

Badla, presented by Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Azure Entertainment, co-produced by Gaurav Verma and produced by Gauri Khan, Sunir Kheterpal and Akshai Puri, releases today.
