Healthy Living
Awareness Towards Health
“An investment in health is an asset for a lifetime”
Health, as stated by WHO, is the state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of diseases and infirmities. In our day to day fast-paced life, we often tend to treat our body inanimately and stretch its limits so as to reach the desired goals or fulfill the required task. But, in the process, we forget that the human body is a living entity which has its own set of requirements-that of nourishment, relaxation, etc…
Also, unfortunately, most of the time we measure health in physical terms and conveniently forget the emotional and social aspects of it. For example, if one has a fight in the morning, he/she remains agitated the entire day irrespective of how much physically fit he/she is. This agitation adversely affects mental wellbeing and in turn, the health of a person, thus consequently also affecting his social behavior.
In today’s modern world, where people are in a competitive rat race and are taken over by the evils of lust, greed, self-obsession, etc. We are moving towards an era of unhealthy individuals. Herein the point I wish to convey is that more and more people are neglecting their health in pursuit of self-goals. Body shaming, skipping meals, erratic sleep cycles, and unhygienic sedentary lifestyles have all become a modern trend but simultaneously also becoming the root cause of various ailments and complex infirmities.
Not only is this, with increasing emotional instability, the staggeringly falling emotional quotient pushing the world into an epoch of depression and loneliness, leaving individuals vulnerable. Thus, it is of the need of the hour to treat the parameter of health with a holistic approach and not only in physical terms. And for this, we must ensure that there is awareness towards health not only in the urbanized domains but across all the spheres of the society.
We must eat a balanced and well-cooked diet, have at least 6-8 glasses of water in a day to ensure proper hydration, 6-8 hours of sleep for proper body rejuvenation, and a proper regime to ensure work-life balance. Alongside this, we must take the path of meditation and yoga to not only aid our physical fitness but to help us gain emotional strength and stability. Besides, it is also very important that apart from self, the surroundings in which we live are also hygienic and ensure that they do not become aware house of diseases like dengue, filariasis.
Today, owing to the widespread Corona, every one of us is undergoing a stressful period where we cannot avoid our fundamental day to day activities as well as neglect the ongoing severity of the situation. Thus, in such times, it becomes even more important to focus on personal hygiene and sanitation and that of the area we are living in. Masks, sanitizers, and periodic washing of hands can protect us only if we keep a check on our day-to-day cleanliness and follow all the prescribed and basic norms.
Not only this, but it is also absolutely essential to focus on one’s own mental health and ensure that we are surrounded by positivity, and if not, then we must find things that motivate us, encourage us and help us stay inspired.
Therefore, it is a grave situation that demands every individual to realize that the human body is a temple and it is our utmost duty to revere it, for, if not, then we must be prepared to face the consequent wrath too.
