Ayodhya case: SC bench reconstituted, hearing from 29th January
After Justice UU Lalit recused himself on the first day of the hearing of the much awaited Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit dispute, now the bench has been reconstituted. CJI Ranjan Gogoi has added Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Abdul Nazeer in the bench. Hearing in this politically case will commence on January 29.
On day1, Justice UU Lalit bowed out after an SC order of 1997 showed that he had appeared in a case related to the Ayodhya suit. So now the bench will consist of CJI, Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and Abdul Nazeer.
Earlier some of the religious organisations had expressed frustration after the hearing of the case was delayed post recusal of the SC judge. Many Hindu groups and some political parties have demanded Centre to bring Ordinance on Ayodhya. However, PM Modi has made it clear that for now the government is waiting for the case to be heard in the apex court.
