Bank holiday alert! Branches will be closed for customers on April 1
1st April is the beginning of the new fiscal year. All agency banks, the RBI noted, are advised to keep all their branches dealing with government business open on Sunday, March 31.
Many people are confused if the banks are open on Monday ie 1st April (the start of fiscal year). On April 1st, the banks across India will remain open but just for their employees as the day will for bank account closing day. Banks will not be dealing with customers on 1st April.
Apart from 1st April, here are the list of days when bank will remain close for the customers.
5th April: Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti. Bank will remain closed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
6th April: Sajibu Nongma Panba, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa. Bank will remain closed in Manipur, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
15 April: Poila Boishakh, Bohag Bihu, Vishu, Himachal Day. Bank will remain closed Tripura, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala.
17 April: Mahavir Jayanti. Bank will remain closed Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Lakshadweep, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Delhi, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh.
19 April: Good Friday. Bank will closed everywhere except for J&K and Haryana.
Please note that apart from these holidays, banks will remain shut on the second and fourth Saturday.
