Big jolt to Congress in Jind, Haryana, Surjewala loses to BJP.
The Jind by election result in Haryana has soubned a death blow for the Congress Party which has recently won three hindi heartland states viz Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh n Chattisgarh, the main citadels of the saffron party BJP ruling there for 15 protracted years barring Rajasthan where the BJP lost after one term. The Jind election result is significant because while the BJP candidate Middha won by more than twelve thousand votes the chief spokes person of Congress party and youthful Randeep Singh Surjewala lost badly being in a distant third position. The byelection of Jind was being considered important as general elections are round the corner n people were thinking that perhaps anti incumbency may go against the Khatter government making things easier for either Choutala’s rebel son who got the second position or Randeep Singh Surjewala, a popular eloquent Congress party spokes person quite famous these days apeearing in Television channels day in and day out. The BJP victory on this seat right three months before the general election has while on the one hand given quite a positive energy and moral boost to BJP at the national level it has also made it exemplary clear that the saffron party’s position in the state is still intact. However, the opposition Congress party workers have protested n accused the ruling party in the state of misusing the EVMs in its favour. It may be recalled that the BJP candidate Kishan Midda who won from Jind by a margin of 13 thousand votes defeated Jan Nayaj Janata Party candidate Digvijay Choutala and Congress candidate Surjewala joined BJP recently from INLD and contested on a seat fallen vacant after his fathers sad demise who was the INLD lawmaker from here. It’s quite obvious that being new in BJP n having contested from his late fathers’ seat Midda must have got the sympathetic votes as well as the INLD votes as well apart from BJP votes. While Midda finished first with a total of 50, 566 votes, JJP’s Dig Vijay Choutala got 37,361 votes. Sirjewala of Congress who is already a sitting MLA from Kaithal came distant third with merely 22, 740 votes.
