Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited historic Kedarnath Shrine five times and Badrinath Dham, number of times as well, during his six-year tenure till now.
He even meditated for the whole night on 19 May in a cave near Kedarnath shrine before the declaration of the results of the national election 2019.
There have been special impetus therefore from the central as well as the state governments, both ruled by the BJP at present to modernize and facelift the historic temple vicinities.
Prime minister Narendra Modi had been an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva and Vishnu and therefore had not only visited both Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines number of times after becoming prime minister but had also been here in Lord Shiva’s obeisance in Uttarakhand Himalayas’ years ago for several months finally being blessed wholly.
In view of this, the union government on the directions of prime minister Narendra Modi has given Kedarnath shrine and its surrounding vicinity a new facelift initially commenced by the Congress governments of Uttarakhand led by Vijay Bahuguna and Harish Rawat post-Kedarnath disaster of 2013 and its by spending hundreds of crores of rupees.
Similarly in Badrinath Dham too the union government is spending 48 crores for the development and renovation of the 1200-year-old historic ancient temple as well as its nearby vicinity.
According to the latest news reports pouring in from various sources, the government of Uttarakhand on the pattern of the development of Kedarnath Shrine and its surroundings is now concentrating on the overall development of historic Badrinath Shrine and its surrounding vicinity to give it a new facelift by renovating roads, lodging boarding arrangements, buildings, etc.
The central government has already sanctioned a budget of Rs. 48 crores to give this 12-century old historic temple a complete facelift with improvement in facilities for the pilgrims and tourists who visit here every year in lakhs from all over the country and the globe.
Under this new development intiative, the government of Uttarakhand is emphasizing on the development of a new pathway called the Aastha Path under which the pilgrims could conveniently pay obeisance to lord Badrinath from the distance of three hundred meters. Currently, in Yatra season, the temple becomes completely jampacked due to heavy rush leading to suffocation and lots of hardships to the pilgrims.
According to a reliable source of Badrinath Temple committee, unanimity has been arrived amongst the local shopkeepers on the way to Badrinath temple to rehabilitate them elsewhere in the temple vicinity by alloting them separate places or shops to continue earning their livelihood.
According to the chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat in view of the multiple increase in the number of pilgrims at Badrinath after the dreaded ecological disaster of June 2013, the government is finalising a masterplan to give Badrinath Shrine and its surroundings a complete facelift for the comfort and convenience of pilgrims who throng in lakhs during the Yatra season to have lord Badrinath’s obeisance.
The chief minister said that various corporate houses are prepared to contribute handsomely in this development move of Badrinath Dham in addition to the central government’s Rs. 48 crore budget.
According to the development model of Badrinath shrine, the civic amenities, like clean drinking water, hygiene, cleanliness, and modernized lodging and boarding facilities for the comfort and convenience of pilgrims will be created compounded with the illumination of the temple and its surrounding with LED lights and wide roads with huge decorative entry gates.
The entire vicinity will be beautified and made environmentally friendly. The Yatri Dharamshalaas will be constructed on a large scale with the reconstruction of a foot overbridge over BAAMNI NAALA, complete beautification of deity Goddess statue n its vicinity and construction of spacious parking area.
It may be recalled that the elder son of Reliance group CMD Mukesh Ambani has been co-opted as one of the members of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee of the government of Uttarakhand.
The works on Chardham Yatra Roads known as an over-ambitious all-weather roads project inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi a few years ago is also in progress in Garhwal Uttarakhand and the underground rail project till Rudraprayag as well.
