India today made history and became the fourth nation after United States, Russia, and China to successfully launch its indigenously manufactured Chandrayaan 2 MK 111 spacecraft in its over-ambitious space mission to the moon from Sriharikota launch station.
Chandrayaan 2 MK 111 was launched on 15th July but a snag was detected into the valve of its engine just 57 minutes before the launch which had to be called off immediately thereafter.
The entire country was interestingly and curiously watching the launch of Chandrayan 2 this afternoon fully glued to their TV sets and mobiles and cheered as the successful launch got executed at 2.43 PM from Sriharikota launch station.
The chief of Indian Space Research Organisation K. Sivan under whose most dedicated and committed leadership hundreds of scientists, space science engineers, technical assistants and the entire staff of ISRO had burnt midnight oil for the last two years to make this historic mission possible congratulated them saying I am extremely happy to announce that the GSLV MK 111 M1 has successfully injected Chandrayan2 spacecraft into the Earth Orbit.
It’s a beginning of a historic journey in space science of India towards the moon and to land at a place near South pole to carry out scientific experiments.
I salute all of them who were engaged in this mission especially the ISRO team added Sivan, chairman ISRO.
Chandrayaan 2 is currently in the geostationary orbit and would take 48 days to reach the South pole of the moon.
The prime minister Narendra Modi has termed the successful launch of Chandrayan 2 as special moments that will be etched in the annals of our glorious history.
PM Narendra Modi tweeted: Special moments that will be etched in the annals of our glorious history.
The launch of Chadrayaan 2 illustrates the prowess of our scientists and the determination of 130 crore Indians to scale new frontiers of science.
The union defence minister Rajnath Singh too expressed his jubilation and tweeted: Congratulations to ISRO scientists on flawless launching of Chandrayaan 2 from Sriharikota.
Team ISRO scripted a new chapter in India’s space history with the launch of this ambitious and indigenous Mission to Moon. The nation is extremely proud of its scientists and Team ISRO.
The union home minister Amit Shah to congratulated the ISRO team for this outstanding contribution in the indigenous moon mission but a thank you for PM Modi as well and tweeted: I congratulate our scientists at ISRO for the successful launch of Chandrayan 2 and setting yet another benchmark in the field of space technology.
A grateful nation is proud of them. I thank PM Modiji for encouraging our institutions for setting new standards every time.
It may be recalled that this highly successful indigenous moon mission spacecraft Chadrayan 2 will have an Orbitor for remote sensing the Moon and also a Lander Rover module for analysis of the lunar surface.
It will take 48 days to reach the destined goal but before landing at South pole it would revolve near the moon surface for 14 days enabling safe landing which indeed would be terrorizing days for ISRO said its chairman K. Sivan as the safe landing of the Chadrayan on South pole is the greatest challenge for ISRO now.
This will be the first space mission to rove on the Moon’s southern pole searching for water, ice and cold traps that would help in preserving the history of our solar system. Around 7500 people witnessed the historic launch of Chandrayan 2 MK 111 from Sriharikota launching station in Andhra Pradesh and billions around the country and the globe.
Even prime minister Narendra Modi and the majority of his cabinet colleagues curiously watched the launch event before congratulating the ISRO chairman Sivan and his entire team which made this historic event possible bringing laurels for the nations and including it in the comity of nations having sent successful missions to moon earlier.

Congratulations to ISRO scientists, team members, technicians and each and every individual who has made even a tiniest contribution to Indian Space Research.
ISRO has proved to the world that India can create successful space technology with minimum costs with good efficiency due to its sheer determination to acheive new heights in Science and space.
ISRO is no more limited only to research but also carries out commercial projects for other countries thereby also becoming an economic income generator for our Nation….
I am eagerly waiting to see Chandrayaan-2 ‘s successful ‘Soft’ landing on the Southern Lunar Surface in a few weeks from now….
