Congress is going to win all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, : JP Agrawal

Lok Sabha candidate from Chandni Chowk accused the BJP, AAP of breaking the backbone of the traders, business class, workers in the last five years

JP Agrawal met traders, shopkeepers during his public outreach campaign

Veteran Congress leader and former MP, Jai Prakash Agrawal continued his public outreach campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. JP Agrawal, who is contesting from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat, began his campaign on Saturday (April 27) from a park at Ashok Vihar where he interacted with the youth and shared his thoughts about the political and social political matters in the state and the country.

Later, while addressing a gathering in Model Town Legislative Assembly Mr Agrawal attacked the BJP and AAP for not doing anything for the people of Delhi. He exuded confidence that the Congress will not just win Chandni Chowk, in fact, the grand old party of India will win all seven seats in Delhi.

“Delhi prospered and progressed under Congress rule. We built flyovers to decongest the traffic, traders were happy, the common man was leading a happy life. The party never intended to trouble the businessmen and traders for they are the lifelines of Delhi. Our governments always ensured the tax laws are simple and hassle-free for the traders. But the BJP & AAP rule has broken the backbone of the traders and workers,” said Mr Agrawal in his public speech.

JP Agrawal also visited the areas of Ghantaghar, Shakti Nagar Extension as part of his election campaign. He met with the shopkeepers and traders at their shops and appealed them to vote in the favour of national interest, vote for the benefit of the business class, hence vote for Congress to power.

Mr Agrawal – who has been a four-time Congress MP – assured the Congress-led Government will bring an end to the miseries of the traders and businessmen. The party has never deserted them and will continue doing so.

Demonetisation, GST and sealing law has hit the business class badly in the last five years, but the Modi government never paid attention to their worries. Thousands of families are finding it hard to earn a square meal properly.

“The traders of Delhi went through a lot during in the last five years, but our sitting MP from Chandni Chowk, Dr Harsh Vardhan, who is also a cabinet minister, never raised his voice in the interest of traders in the Parliament. He is back during election season and seeking votes. Now it is in your hands, whether to chose him again for another term and continue getting ignored or teach him a lesson for the hardships you people went through in the last five years.”

Mr Agrawal claimed that the voters shouldn’t fall into the traps of the BJP and its rhetorics. “The voters should remember that they were forced to stand for hours in the queue during Demonetisation. Several people lost their lives while trying to get their own hard-earned money and the Finance Minister was clueless about this development. The people were recovering from the jolt of Demonetisation when the Modi Government introduced the GST to further complicate their lives. They even threatened the traders of jail if the GST norms are not followed strictly.”

During JP Agrawal’s campaign, Kunwar Karan Singh – the former MLA from Model Town constituency – appealed to the voters to come out in good numbers and exercise their franchise. “The people should remember that the BJP isn’t seeking votes in the name of Demonetisation, GST because they also know that no one will vote the Modi Government for them. Congress party has always worked for the welfare of the people of this country and all the progress Delhi has done was during the Congress rule.”
