We don’t really need to talk about how important education is. But we do need to talk about the best way to impart it. A child carries his education into adulthood- and by that we mean education from both inside and outside the classroom.
India, with its focus still on STEM subjects and old methods in classroom, is a lot behind these following countries we are going to talk about. Behind in terms of practical application of the subject taught and the overall development of the child.
So here are some countries we could learn from, countries with best education system in the world –
FINLAND
Finland, a beautiful country in Northern Europe, is considered to have the best education system in the world. There are many reasons for this, the most important being that they practice a holistic approach which strives for equity over excellence.
Also, the Finnish system has completely done away with cramming practices, they encourage kids to learn in their own pace and focus as much on rest and play as on studies.
The schools have classes 4 days a week and no homework. This gives a growing child ample time to learn outside the classroom too, which is important for their overall growth.
JAPAN
Japan’s education system focuses on quality over quantity. They also focus on filling any gaps learning a new thing might leave by making kids teach each other. Another point of focus is overall development of the kid, by encouraging them to participate in a number of activities separate from their studies. The after-school clubs, too, play a major role in nurturing a child’s talents and interests.
SOUTH KOREA
Though it is said that South-Korean education system can be pretty tough on students, it’s also a fact that it has time and again delivered excellent results. The reason may be the strong foundation which is laid by the time a student is 14, that is when they graduate from middle school. The elementary level students, too, are given enough time to learn from outside the classroom.
DENMARK
Denmark is another European nation known for its developed education system. With ample focus on vocational education and Arts besides Science subjects, it gives enough opportunities to students of all interests. Unlike India, which has almost none Liberal Arts colleges, Denmark has something for everyone. Maybe this is the reason of its high literacy and low to non-existent drop-out rates.
RUSSIA
