Delhi High Court directs Delhi government to file status report about treatment given to the poor in six weeks !

The Delhi high Court has issued notice to the Delhi government directing it to submit the report of all the six Delhi government hospitals to the court regarding the medical treatment being given to the poor patients as well as the status report of various other aspects as the former feels that despite the hospitals being allocated a vast amount of funds theu are not rendering up to the mark services leading to the sufferings of the poor patients and those hailing from lowest ebb of the society.

The High Court has issued notice to the government of NCT of Delhi on a public interest litigation filed by a person complaining about the complacent medical services and treatment of poor patients in the GB Pant Hospital where an MRI machine is non functioning/ defunct for the last two years despite several complaints leading to untold miseries and inconvenience to patients suffering from critical ailments.

The court has also directed the GB Pant hospital authorities to submit the report about the defunct MRI machine within a week’s time in addition to the detailed reports of all the six Delhi government hospitals’ functioning including the status report about the numbers of Delhi and outside patients treated in these hospitals from the Delhi government.

According to the news reports the counsel of the Delhi government representing it, has acquainted the court about the satisfactory improvements made in all the Delhi government hospitals by the present government in terms of provision of better medical facilities, treatments, surgeries and free distribution of medicinies etc but the court was not satisfied and directed the concerned authorities to submit a detailed status report of all the six hospitals functioning under its jurisdiction acknowledging tremendous funding.

The six hospitals under the Delhi governments’ jurisdiction include the GB Pant hospital, LNJP hospital, Dr. Ambedkar hospital and Guru Tegh Bahadur hospital etc.

It may be recalled that the Delhi government of AAP has undoubtedly carried out great amount of resurrection of the various Delhi government hospitals, dispensaries, poly clinics and health centres by way of improvement in services, availability of staff, doctors, pharmacists and free distribution of medicines etc including free surgeries for critical illnesses in private hospitals but in view of the increasing rush of patients still lot n lot needs to be done and that’s the reason the honourable high court wants to ensure that maximim of the poor and economically deprived patients receive the best of treatments in these government hospitals.
