The former union health minister during Indira Gandhi’s tenure, member Congress Working Committee and a veteran leader Dr. Karan Singh has said that he is very fond of Gandhi family scion Rahul Gandhi and that his desire to resign should be honored at the earliest by convening the highest decision making body CWC’ s meeting to be presided by Dr. Manmohan Singh, a senior party leader and the prime minister who ruled the nation for ten long years.
Dr. Karan Singh who had been mum all these years despite so much of hullaballoo in the Congress has finally broken his silence.
The son of the former Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir Hari Singh, Dr. Karan Singh is in fact very disturbed to see the Congress party lying so low this time after Rahul’s resignation which ruled the country for more than 60 years.
Dr. Karan Singh an intellectual to the core and several times MP from Kashmir and union minister from wants the CWC without wasting a single moment, elect a new and energetic young president so that the party is not headless and crisis like Karnataka could be handled in a more formidable way.
He is furious about the delay in electing or nominating a new incumbent after Rahul Gandhi’s quitting from the top slot saying it’s not only bad for the democracy but also for the 12 crore people of the country who’d voted for the Congress.
These views were expressed by Dr. Katan Singh while speaking to India Today TV correspondent.
Dr. Karan Singh was very categorical in saying that he is really worried about the delay which amounts to Congress party going further backward. He was aghast that the Congress party has gone into disorientation after Rahul’s quitting as party president.
Rahul Gandhi’s desire and guts to resign should be heartily respected and fulfilled by inducting the new President but a younger face who could take the party forward with new zeal, enthusiasm and respecting tenets of Congress constitution.
He added that for the sake of democracy and to respect the mandate of 12 crore voters who’d voted for Congress, the early convening of the CWC meeting and thereby election of a new president is not only utmostly necessary but mandatory as well. Dr. Karan Singh is a popular and highly revered politician, a veteran Congressman, for union minister and MP including a poet and philanthropist.
