Education, health and employment will be our priority commits JP. BJP’s Harshvardhan too busy in enhancing his outreach
Veteran Congress leader and candidate from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat Jai Prakash Agarwal on Thursday (May 2) held a Padyatra from Shashtri Nagar to Roshanara Road as a part of his poll campaign. He was accompanied by a swarm of Congress supporters and received a warm welcome from the people of the area. Where ever he went, he was welcomed with the slogans of ‘JP Agarwal Zindabad’, ‘Congress, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi Zindabad’.
During the Morning Padyatra, former MLA Rajesh Jain, Shadi Ram, former councillor from Shastri Nagar Shalu Malik, and senior Congress leaders Mohd Usman, and Suresh Sharma accompanied JP Agrawal and sought vote for him.
During his public outreach campaign, JP Agarwal informed the people about Congress party’s poll manifesto and his prime focus was on schools, medicine and health in the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat.
JP Agarwal said, “We will ensure free and compulsory education from class 1 to 12 in all government schools. Every school to have better infrastructure, more teachers will be hired. Improvement in health services at hospitals. The government will bring a law so that every citizen gets proper education and health services. I would ensure that new government schools are opened in Chandni Chowk constituency. I will fulfil every single promise I have made if Congress party comes to power this time.”
The four-time Congress MP is receiving immense support from the people during his Padyatras. People everywhere are welcoming him with flowers and garlands. The elderly, the youth and women alike conveyed him their best wishes to him and promised to support him.
From four o’clock in the evening, Shri Agarwal started the second Padyatra from Jama Masjid. He was warmly welcomed by the people in the area. Talking to the people, Mr Agarwal said, “I have grown up in Chandni Chowk and I am fully aware of the problems in this area and I assure you that I will not disappoint you. I am always available to you. Unlike BJP, our party does not believe in ‘jumlebazi’. BJP leaders promised ‘Achhe Din’ five years ago, but the people of Delhi are still waiting for it. All those talks and assurances from BJP about ‘Achhe Din’ were nothing but rhetoric.”
“Demonetisation, GST and sealing hit the business class in Delhi badly in the last five years. The Modi government never paid attention to their worries. Thousands of families are finding it hard to earn a square meal properly due to the poor policies of the Modi Government,” he added further.
On this occasion, Congress leader Mohammed Osman said, “JP Agarwal is a well-known face, he is the leader who is always available for the people, he is connected to the land. He knows every nook and cranny in Chandni Chowk and therefore understands their problems. The business class of Chandni Chowk stands with him. Agarwal Saheb and Chandni Chowk make a brilliant combination together. With your support and blessings, he will definitely win.”
Former councillor of the area Mr Sultan said, “If the people do not want to regret for the next five years, they should think before casting their vote. Before you vote, definitely think which candidate can raise their problems properly. The new generation should not be influenced by ‘jumlebazi’ and should not vote for such leaders. They should think about a government which can work for their benefit.”
It may be recalled that the union minister n former MLA BJP Harshvardhan is contesting from the BJP ticket against the Congress’s Jai Prakash Agrawal and another AAP candidate. Harshvardhan is quite a popular political figure in BJP n commands tremendous respect amongst the electorates.
However Jai Prakash Agrawal being a four time MP and having born n brought up here with his late father Ram Chandra Agrawal being a freedom fighter n former deputy mayor is extremely popular amongst the people here. Moreover, Chandni Chowk has a sizeable muslim population likely to vote for Congress this time apart from the traders who are disenchanted with BJP due to sealing, demonetisation and GST which has badly affected their business. The division of non BJP votes between the AAP n Congress is a worrisome reason for both these parties as it is usually said that the BJP vote is intact n has also shot up to some extent due to post Pulwama effect and Modi charisma.
But in elections, nothing is predictable?
