Eminent parliamentarian Jaipal Reddy is no more

The former union minister of Urban Development in Dr. Manmohan Singh’s government 77-year-old Jaipal Reddy is no more. He breathed his last in Hyderabad hospital after severely suffering from pneumonia. Late Jaipal Reddy was admitted in the ICU for a week and his condition deteriorated further finally breathing his last yesterday night.

Four times MLA, two times Lok Sabha and two times Rajya Sabha MP Jaipal Reddy was a veteran Congress leader who was earlier in Janata Dal holding several important positions and also its spokesperson for a long time. He was a thorough gentleman, an intellectual to the core and respected by one and all across party and ideological lines.

The President of India and Prime minister expressed their grief and condolenses through their respective tweets.

The President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted : Sorry to hear of the passing of Shri Jaipal Reddy, former union minister. He was a thinking person’s politician and an outstanding parliamentarian. My condolences to his family and many associates.

The prime minister tweeted : Shri Jaipal Reddy had years of experience in public life. He was respected as an articulate speaker and effective administrator. Saddened by his demise. My thoughts are with his family and well wishers in this hour of grief.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also has expressed his grief over veteran leader Jaipal Reddy’s sad demise terming him as outstanding parliamentarian, great son of Telengana who dedicated his entire life to public service.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted : I am sorry to hear about the sad demise of former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Shri Jaipal Reddy Garu. An outstanding parliamentarian, great son of Telangana, he dedicated his entire life to public service. My deepest condolenses to his family and friends.

Sunil Negi hails from Uttarakhand and is a veteran journalist and author. He is a prolific writer and has carved a name for himself in the media world. He received the 'Golden Achiever Award' in the '90th AIAC Excellence Awards 2019' for his book ''Havoc in Heaven'' based on the tragedy that struck Uttarakhand in which thousands of people lost their lives. He is also the President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum and majorly writes on Politics, Current Affairs, and Social Issues.
