Eminent socio political leader of Uttarakhand Sundriyal remembered on his anniversary

Several prominent social organisations of Uttarakhand active in Delhi and the hill state commemorated the anniversary of one of the prominent leaders and founder of Uttarakhand movement late Rishi Ballabh Sundriyal at Gandhi Peace Foundation auditorium in New Delhi and pledged to follow his footsteps, principles and ideals for the fulfilment of his unfulfilled dreams.

Late Rishi Ballabh Sundriyal was the mass leader of Uttarakhand who dedicated his entire life for conserving the water, forests and lands of Uttarakhand.
He was the pioneer of the Save Himalaya movement, separate Uttarakhand state movement and also one of the leading movement leaders’ of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University which was established after a protracted struggle of several uears.
Rishi Ballabh Sundriyal’s one of the basic and primary objective was for Safe and prosperous Himalaya.
The commemoration function and a seminar  was jointly organised by Rishi Ballabh Sundriyal Vichar Manch, Creative Uttarakhand, Myar Pahad and Krishi Choupal.
Several dignitories and movement activists expressed their views on this ocassion and remembered late Sundriyal for his valuable and priceless contribution to the cause of the Uttarakhand himalayas.
Prominent amongst those who spoke on this ocassion were senior journalist and activist Charu Tiwari, President of the India Green Party and senior journalist Suresh Nautiyal, activist Deevan Singh Nayal, activist, trade union leader and son of late Rishi Ballabh Sundriyal Prem Sundriyal, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leader Pratap Shahi, prominent literateur of Uttarakhand Pooran Kandpal and others.
Four posters of prominent personalities of Uttarakhand who’d dedicated their entire life as socio political reformers and movement activists and writers have also been released on this ocassion.
Unfortunately they are no more with us.
These four icons of Uttarakhand are viz Dr. Shamsher Singh Bisht, a leading voice of peoples’ struggle in Uttarakhand against land, liquor and illegal mining mafia, Lok Geet Samrat ( king of folk songs) Mohan Singh Reethawadi, Chipko movements chief activist Gaura Devi and eminent revolutionery and former MP Paripoornanand Painuli.
The organisations deserved to be complimented for higlighting the contributions of these legendary figures of Uttarakhand in order to infuse  their morals, ideals and inspiration in the minds of the present and incoming generations.
Prominent folk singer Asha Negi, recently awarded by President of India for her outstanding melodious voice and singing also presented her songs with musician Bhuvan playing on the traditional drums.

Sunil Negi hails from Uttarakhand and is a veteran journalist and author. He is a prolific writer and has carved a name for himself in the media world. He received the 'Golden Achiever Award' in the '90th AIAC Excellence Awards 2019' for his book ''Havoc in Heaven'' based on the tragedy that struck Uttarakhand in which thousands of people lost their lives. He is also the President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum and majorly writes on Politics, Current Affairs, and Social Issues.
