Fart disrupts proceedings at a regional assembly in Kenya
In a weird incident, a fart disrupted the proceedings in a Kenyan regional assembly.
The speaker had to adjourn the proceedings. The speaker adjourned the session when a pungent smell had spread in the house.
Juma Awuor, a member of the County Assembly (MCA) was on the floor discussing when the speaker interrupted. Nairobi Wire reported the following about the presiding speaker Edwin Kakach, “Kakach’s attention had reportedly been drawn to a group of male MCAs who were pointing fingers at each other over the suffocating fart.” Julius Gaya, an MCA addressed the speaker, “Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is.”
“I am not the one. I cannot do such a thing in front of my colleagues.” This was retorted by the member accused of farting by Julius Gaya. BBC Africa quoted the speaker, “We cannot continue sitting in an environment that smells bad.” To clean the air the speaker had announced a ten-minute break and had requested the members to step outside the chamber.
“Get whatever flavour you will find in any office, whether it’s vanilla or strawberry.” the speaker was quoted by BBC Africa. The speaker had reportedly summoned the staff to get air fresheners to clean up the air.
