Fasting time? Try these refreshing beverages …
In India many people observe fast during the festivals. Fasting is not only a practice meant for spiritual reasons but also for health benefits people do observe a fast. Actually, fasting helps in detoxification and cleansing of your body and keeps your mind calm and composed. This is really a good time to try different healthy refreshing drinks made of fresh fruits and herbs to keep your body active.
Take a look at these five refreshing beverages that you can have during your fast. These are not just nutritious, but also quite filling.
Watermelon Mint Juice
Slice and dice the 1 cup watermelon into small piece and remove the seeds. Take a blender and put the watermelon pieces along with 10 to 12 mint leaves, a pinch of black pepper, half tea spoon roasted cumin powder and half tea spoon rock salt to it. Also add few drops of lemon juice as per your taste in the blender. No need to add sugar as watermelon is already too sweet. Blend it well and strain. Garnish with a twig of mint leaves and serve cool.
Chikoo Milkshake
Wash the chikoo properly to make the outer layer soft. Then peel and chop 1 cup of chikoo and remove the seeds. Put one cup of chikoo a blender along with 1 cup of milk to it. Add sugar to taste and blend it until you get a smooth texture.
Papaya Muskmelon Juice
Peel and chop half papaya and half muskmelon. Put the chopped pieces in a blender along with one tbsp. of lime juice and few ice cubes in it. Whiz it well to make a smooth texture. Pour in a tall glass and garnish with a thin muskmelon slice before you serve.
Grape Juice
Take a cup of grapes of your preference: red, green or black. Wash them and let it soak in water in a large bowl/jar filled with water. Then in your favorite blender put the grapes and add a pinch of back salt and one teaspoon of lime juice or else you can also try a teaspoon of fruit chat masala. Blend it well and serve the tangy grape juice.
Strawberry watermelon Juice
Take 8 to 9 large or 1 cup Strawberries and 1 ½ cups of watermelon diced into small pieces in a blender and add 2-3 teaspoons lemon juice. Add half cup water and few ice cubes then give two to three long whizzes to make it smooth. Then strain the puree to obtain a glass of chilled and refreshing juice. Garnish with a slice of strawberry and serve.
