The one of the most tragic incidents of 61despicable killings of innocent migrant labourers at Jodaa Phatak in Amritsar on the eve of Dushehra celebrations has calmed down within just few days.

This is what happens with every incident, however massive or serious it may be. It was not only horrible and terrorising but one of the most unforgetable train tragedy ever witnessed in the last seven decades of independence except during partition when people saw sacks of corpses and body parts being sent in trains from Pakistan.

The Amritsar incident sounded like a killing machine on the work that came with a speed like a devil and created havoc within seconds most abominally killing 61 people and grievously injuring more than fifty. Chief minister, state Railway minister, the senior bureaucrats, senior most police officers came, visited the site announed financial compensation of 5 n 2 lakhs to each of the family members n ordered a commissioner level enquiry assuring peoole that the report will come out in just four days.

The railways however refused to order any inquiry having been successful to rid themselves of any responsibility, despite the fact that the tracks were of railways n the train were of railways. What’s worrisome and shocking is the fact that the blame which seems to have been over now between the BJP n Congress including the Akalies has not led to a single punishment, penalisation or termination despite four days having elapsed.

No report of the enquiry arrived nor does it seem it will ever arrive. The deceaseds’ bereaved families have to contend with few lakhs for the whole life. Not a single member or next of the kin of the dead has been given government job either by the state or the centre. What a horrible shame.

The whole world knows that the Punjab government, the Amritsar local administration and the railways are cumulatively responsible for this massive tragedy to happen.

There are several questions which remained to be answered. Number one – When the administration knew that the railway tracks are just wothin the ground area why was the permission granted and not rejected by the police or the administration.

Why did’nt the railways took the notice of its open railway lines knowing very well that people sit n stand on them and why was the railway police not deployed or train not cancelled or delayed from 6 to 8. 00 PM or as per the situation that existed then. Why had the railways not contructed the temperory or steel or iron grill boundary as fence alongside the open railway track to avoid tress pass.

Where was the local police and their officers to manage the crowd in the ground especially at the railway track side where about 300 to 5000 people were standing in order to restrict them to squat on the lines thus avoiding this huge tragedy. The fact of the matter is that the concerned police chief, the officer who granted permission and the senior railways officers etc should be immediately held accountable and penalised so as to avert such tragedies in the near future in other parts of the country.

What sounds most anguishing is the fact that every arm of the state and the union government, the railways are trying to shirk its responsibility under barious pretexts amd want to come out clean whereas the fact remains that the entire administration, the local police, the local CID and other agencies responsible were all sleeping or busy in the TIMAARDAARI of the VIPs of the function.

Meanwhile a poster is being circulated in the social media that the Amritsar MP and former cricketer Novjyot Singh Sidhu has adopted the children of the Amritsar train tragedy and would be funding their food n education etc for the entire life. The news is unauthenticated yet. What’s your take friends?
