Five Dead and 21 injured when a GMOU bus falls in a gorge near Gairsain, Garhwal, Uttarakhand

News are pouring in that yet again a fatal accident has occured on Ram Nagar Badrinath Road when a bus with 26 passengers heading towards Gairsain, Garhwal fell into a 120 metres deep gorge killing five commuters on the spot and injurung over 21 seriously having addmitted in the local hospital.

According to the reports and dispatch from JNN the Garhwal Mandal Owners Union bus number UK- 04, PA- 0126 with about 26 passengers which left for Gairsain fell in the deep gorge at 3.00 PM afternoon near Sendhra Rivulet, ( Almora) near Garudkhet, while plying on Ram Nagar Badrinath Road.

About 21 passengers were seriously injured while 5 died on the spot. The reason for the accident is being given as failure of the brakes due to which the bus went out of control and skidded into the 120 metres gorge being badly damaged and splintered into pieces like the pack of cards taking several acrobatics.

The grievously injured passengers were rescued by the local police and the rescue teams with the help of the local villagers.

It may be recalled that fatal road accidents and the buses and vehicle falling in gorge have become a regular feature in Uttarakhand primarily due to brake failures, bad conditions of roads full of pot holes and due to landslides.

Just two days ago a tempo traveller fell into a deep gorge after the landslide n in July 2 about 48 passengers killed when an over crowded bus met with a fatal accident n fell in a gorge on Ram Nagar Road while going towards Dhumakot.

May the Almighty give peace to the departed souls and enough strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreperable grave loss.
