Flipkart Likely To Take Up 3,000 Working Desks In Bengaluru
Flipkart, which was recently owned by the international brand Walmart, is planning to take up 3,000 working desks in Bengaluru. The company is in the process to seal the deal with another company to acquire co-working space and this will be the first big deal for Flipkart.
According to the sources, the company has made RFP i.e. request for proposal and is considering top five companies to fulfill the required. The two companies namely, the WeWorks and CoWrks are the front-runners for this deal.
By taking up the co-working space, the Flipkart is breaking the practice of running operations from their premises only. The company has its own custom-built corporate campus that is spread over 800,000 sq.ft. area and is located in the Tech village of Bengaluru city. The Tech Village is owned by Blackstone and realty developer Embassy Group who are the renowned names in the real estate market.
In a statement, Flipkart said that the company will have the flexibility to extend and minimize the space at any given point.
In a recent report, the real estate expert indicated that the currently occupied co-working space of 5% will increase to 30-40% in the next three years. The maximum number of space is expected to be occupied by international giant companies.
Earlier in 2017-18, the Flipkart India earned revenue of Rs. 21,438 crore with rated at 40% growth per year. At present, the company has employee strength of 10,000 full-time employees in multiple locations excluding the employees of Myntra and Jabong.
