The former chief minister of Uttarakhand and the present member of parliament from Haridwar Dr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank gave an extremely eloquent speech in Lok Sabha and demanded that the union government make necessary arrangements for imparting free hi tech defence training to the youths of Uttarakhand for appointing them in the Indian Army so that they are able to render their valiant and dedicated services to safe guard our porous borders and serve the nation exhibiting their exemplary bravery and valour.

This defence training to every youth of Uttarakhand who consider it their proud privilege to serve in all the three forces of the country as the inheritence goes, would not only help in giving employment to hundreds and thousands of unemployed educated youth of the himalayan state but will also help in reverse migration in Uttarakhand where villages are becoming devoid of inhabitants due to the increasing exodus to cities, towns and metropolises in the absence of jobs and employment opportunities.

In his precise but eloquent speech Dr. Nishank said that it’s a matter of great privilege for Uttarakhand that that every second family of this himalayan state has one of its member in Indian Army n para military forces who’d sacrificed their precious lives in the line of action while fighting the enemies in the wars of 1962, 65, 71, the British in Peshavar by defying their orders by Chandra Singh Garhwali, in various world wars, in Dantewada fighting the dreaded naxalites, in Golden Temple operation , in Sri Lanka’s PKF fighting LTTE, in the Mumbai attack and in Kashmir while countering the PAK sponsered militants. But when it comes to providing them or next of the kin employment we feel hapless.

Dr. Nishank while lauding the prestigious Victoria cross recipient Late Gabar Singh Negi and coveted honour Param Vir awardee Major Shaitan Singh etc said that when he was on the tour of the Europeon nations these outstanding heroes were for all the praise there also, for their exemplary – bravery, valour and sacrifices in various world war having been honoured by the highest honour even in France.

Dr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank said that during the pre independence days Dr. Subhash Chandra Bose and the after Independence the Indian Army used to organise camps to recruit young men in Indian Army, but now despite so much of the valuable contribution of the Uttarakhandies in Indian army who sacrificed their lives in every action in the service of the country the job avenues are lacking.

He urged upon the government to provide hi tech training to the youths of the Uttarakhand hills on mass scale and provide them due employment in all the three wings of our defence ministry, the Army, Air force and Navy in order to fulfill its commitment towards providing employment to the youth of the Uttarakhand hills and also enable reverse migration, the biggest problem of the hill state. It would be the proud privilege of Uttarakhand’s youths to serve the country by being the significant part of Indian army and its other wings.
