Free travel for women in Delhi Metro n DTC buses : Kejrival

The chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejrival has pleased the Delhi women of all the stratas by announcing free travel for them in Delhi Metro Rail as well as in Delhi Transport Corporation buses.

In the political and administrative history never ever has such free travel in buses or public transport been made free by any government for the women of any state.

As the Delhi elections are coming nearer, which are due in the initial months of 2020, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival is worried as his party has been wiped out in the recently held general elections from all the seven seats of Delhi despite the fact that Aam Admi Party had started its election campaigning quite before schedule.

And what is most troubling for Kejrival is the fact that the Congress party from which it ( AAP) had wrested the power and gained a historic tally of 67 seats in Delhi assembly in 2015, came third in the recently held elections in all the 7 seats with Congress taking the second place. This is the massive setback to AAP which was claiming to wrest all the seats from the ruling BJP.

The AAP’s national convenor n Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival was also accused by his political detractors especially the the Congress party n the son of one of its parliamentary candidates that he had allegedly taken a bribe of 6 crores for giving ticket to his father Sunil Jakhar n other MPs of Rajya Sabha.

Though the allegation could not be substantiated with evidences but it had definitely led to people raising the fingers of suspicion towards him particularly Arvind n AAp party claimingitself to be the main crusader against corruption.

Apart from this allegation his previous rebels like former state minister in his government Kapil Mishra had also charged him and his health minister Satyendra Jain of certain financial irreglarities, the case of which in under court’s hearing and Satyendra Jain has filed a defamation suit against Mishra n Vijendra Gupta of BJP for which the court has issued notices to both of them.

Finding AAP’s deteriorating popularity and the historic win of BJP at the hustings, Arvind Kejrival had no option but to make the Delhi elecorates happy n in good humour.

This is why has announced free travel for women in Delhi Metro n Delhi Transport Corporation buses.

The Delhi government will have to bear the additional burden of Rs. 800 crores against this free travel facility to the women of Delhi.

The Delhi govt and Delhi metro will check the Delhi resident bonafide proof before allowing women to embark in the public transport say sources.

It’s still not clear as to when would this free travel facilty for women of Delhi commence.

Apart from this facility Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival has also announced that three thousand more buses would be added in the present fleet of DTC next month.

Besides this, marshals would be appointed in all the DTC buses to ensure adequate safety of women in the capital.

His basic objective is to give relief to the poor n lower middle class women in particular who are not able to bear the exorbitant rates of Delhi metro n DTC and also ensure their safety n security.

It may be recalled that when the central government of NDA led by BJP had arbitrarily increased the metro fares without consulting the Delhi government despite already being in profit, AAP had not only organised protest demonstrations at every metro stations of Delhi against this price hike of DMRC fare but had also agreed to give 500 crores to metro every year to compensate for the loss as claimed by the DMRC but the union government shrugged off Arvind Kejrival’s proposal, fearing enhancement in his popularity.

If this really happens, Delhi will for sure vote for AAP government in 2020. Moreover in health n education sectors including electricity n water tarrifs Kejrival’s government had created wonders.

The Delhi BJP chief n MP Manoj Tiwari has ridiculed Kejrival saying that he is announcing Sops for Delhi people because AAP is losing the Delhi elections badly by all means.
