Genre-based Anime Recommendations Part 2
Table of Contents
Yes I know we have done this before… but there are just so so many amazing anime with good story and amazing characters out there just waiting to be discovered! And seeing the response the previous article got, we only thought it fair to bring to our readers even more recommendations- a few popular, others not so much but all adhering to specific genres that someone or the other will find interesting.
So keeping true to our motto of ‘Something for Everyone’ we bring you these genre-based anime recommendations! Let’s go –
SHOUNEN/SCIENCE
Though it is actually quite popular and well-liked, we are still adding Dr. Stone to our recommended list for anyone who might have missed this show. Released last year, it has 24 episodes and is a must watch for anyone who loves science and sci-fi genre. And for people who don’t necessarily like the genre, Dr. Stone is still a must-watch if only for the sake of interesting plot and well-written characters.
THRILLER/DARK
Psycho Pass is one of the most well-known anime even with the international audience. But honestly for anyone who likes thrilling stories that incorporate darker elements of human nature, we can’t stress enough how highly recommended this show is. So if you haven’t already, go and watch this 2012 anime and if you have already, well, it’s worth a re-watch.
COMEDY
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, which ran from 2016 to 2019 with a total of 56 episodes, is one of the best comedy anime you will ever see. It’s funny, easy to follow with lots of interesting character designs and packs quite a few punches. I seriously loved this show and was really impressed by how well-balanced the entire thing was.
SHOUJO/SLICE OF LIFE/TEAR-JERKER
Anohana (English title: We Still Don’t Know The Name Of The Flower We Saw That Day) is a well-known anime too. Notorious for making every single person who watches it shed tears. Even if you have a heart of stone, frozen solid over time- you will cry while watching this 11 episode series! And the soundtrack… it’s beautiful, maybe hauntingly so. A story of friendship, suffering, pain and moving on with a dash of supernatural and humour… you can’t miss this show.
SUPERNATURAL
Charlotte is a 12-episode anime which will keep you on edge. Highly recommended for those who want to watch something with a close-knitted plot, impressive characters that are painfully human and mysterious powers- Charlotte is a good watch.
ACTION/ADVENTURE
Okay, this one is totally famous even among non-anime fans but since I only caught up to it recently I am adding Black Clover to this list of highly recommended series. A true Shounen (but that slot was already filled so we added this one) anime- it has everything from a protagonist who never gives up to a worthy rival, from conspiracies brewing in the dark to a number of love interests… and friends who back you up! Even if you think you are done with clichés… you should still give Black clover a chance.
