Harish Rawat to undertake one day sit in hunger strike outside Uttarakhand Assembly secretariat

The former chief minister of Uttarakhand and the All India Congress Committee general secretary Harish Rawat is sitting on one day hunger strike to express solidarity with the cause of the distressed farmers of the state and the the bereaved families of the hooch victims n deceased in Roorkee Uttarakhand n Saharanpur, UP.

In a video released in his facebook post former Uttarakhand Chief minister Harish Rawat said that he is sitying on one day symbolic hunger strike outside the Uttarakhand assembly in support of the long term demands of the Sugar cane farmers of Haridwar, Garhwal n Uddham Singh, Uttarakhand who have not been paid the balance amount of their due and to also expose the present UP n Uttar Pradesh governments who’ve completely failed to avert hooch tragedies in their states leaving 70 dead. Harish Rawat said that the Uttarakhand’s BJP government has failed to fulfill its pre election promise to give the Ganna peasents ( sugar cane farmers) their financial due which comes to around a whopping 300 crores.

Not only this but despite the affected farmers repeatedly protesting n asking for their due the BJP government of Uttarakhand has literally belied its promises by putting the sugar cane farmers of Haridwar, Garhwal n Uddham Singh Nagar thus proving to be anti farmer. Speaking on the tragic hooch deaths in Saharanpur, Roorkee and Haridwar the former Uttarakhand chief minister Rawat while expressing his grief n sorrow over the hooch deaths said thst both the governments of Uttar Pradesh n Uttarakhand ruled by BJP has failed in curbing the illegal prevalance of hooch trade in their states leading to massive deaths.

Rawat said he visited the hospital and met the bereaved families who’d lost their sole bread earners. Harish Rawat was in Lucknow yesterday to participate in Rahul, Priyanka n Jyotiraditya Scindia’s masdive rally and would be unertaking one day fast at Uttarakhand Assemble premises on 13th February alongwith followers and Congressmen. It may be recalled that Harish Rawat has been touring the Uttarakhand n holding socio political meetings on his own with his personel followers thus side lining the state Congress party reveal his arch political rivals within the state Congress.

He has also not been included in the candidates selection panel of the Congress party. But Harish Rawat’s is unmoved and had fixed his one day hunger strike programme. It’s Harish Rawat’s individual initiative n it remains to be seen whether the state Congress chief Pritam Singh n his organisational leaders participate in this Dharna or not. Whats your take friends?
