Helicopter carrying relief materials crashed in Uttarkashi killing three crew members

The cloud burst incidents over the 7 villages and the swelling of the Tons river have created havoc in the Uttarkashi region. The high-velocity gushing water has even uprooted trees, houses, roads and has swept up vehicles as well as people sleeping on the banks of the river. The excessive rains and floods have led to dangerous landslides and killed people who were pressed under the debris of their broken houses. The caving of roads has led to heavy vehicles like trucks falling in the gorges and killing its staff. The boulders falling due to landslides have smashed vehicles on the roadsides and has killed the drivers and the cleaners.
Yesterday the chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and two MPs Raj Lakshmi Shah from Tehri Garhwal and Ajay Bhatt from Nainital as well as Chakrata’s MLA Munna Singh Chouhan had visited the natural calamity hit villages of Uttarkashi. They had surveyed the areas and had interacted with the local populace.
The CM had assured the local populace of all possible monetary and other essential support. The chief minister had also done an aerial survey of all the villages and had immediately announced Rs 4 Lakhs financial compensation for the families of the deceased. He had assured the affected of free ration and medical treatment, as well as clothing to the calamity, affected villagers. He even directed the local administration to allocate agricultural lands, houses, vehicles, and even domestic animals for all those who had lost the same due to this calamity. The chief secretary and other senior officials and bureaucrats had been directed to help the calamity victims to the fullest.

Today morning a helicopter ferrying relief materials to Uttarkashi’s cloud burst and flood-stricken areas crashed leading to the instant death of the three crew members which also included the pilot. The chopper with sufficient relief materials was heading for Moldi from Mosi on the Uttarkashi skies when this unfortunate incident took place. The reason behind the crash of the chopper has not yet been ascertained. There are possibilities of a technical snag or the accident could also be due to inclement weather.

The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed his extreme grief and has sent his condolences to the bereaved families. He has assured the families of all possible help and support.
