The ER(Equal Remuneration) Act, 1976 has been introduced to eradicate gender bias and ensure an equal salary to men and women for the same work. Likewise, the Maternity Benefit Act of 1961 and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act of 2013 protect the rights of many including women workers in India.

Maternity Leave can be taken by pregnant women and women at the phase of childbirth or even pre and post phase to delivery.
India’s Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017 (the Act) has increased the duration of maternity leave for female employees from 12 weeks to 26 weeks.
