HRD Minister assures countrymen that no language will be imposed on anyone

The Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today met the newly sworn in HRD minister of Uttarakhand Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank at his 13 Canning lane, New Delhi residence earlier the residence of the union minister Nitin Gadkari and congratulated him for his new pivotal assignment as union HRD minister earlier held by stalwarts like late K C Pant, Arjun Singh, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi n controvertial under graduate leader Smriti Irani.

Smriti Irani who’d defeated Congress chief Rahul Gandhi from Amethi is union minister of Women n Child Development and textiles.

According to Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, though his meeting with Uttarakhand CM was an informal one and a customary get together but they also deliberated on various pivotal issues of the state and his ministry’s possible contribution in the education sector of Uttarakhand in the near future.

Prior to Dr. Nishank’s meeting with the Uttarakhand CM he also went to the residences of the former MPs from Uttarakhand n state ex CMs Major Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri and Bhagat Singh Koshiyari to seek their blessings.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media the union HRD minister Dr. Pokhriyal cleared doubts about the rumours taking rounds in the media that the new draft education policy document has made Hindi compulsory in all the schools of India.

In a letter of clarification posted in his twitter handle today Dr. Nishank said that while it is true that a draft of National Education Policy document has been submitted to me by the Chairman Dr. Kasturirangan and the members of the Committee yesterday but it has been placed for eliciting the views of the general public.

It is not the policy announced formally by the government. After getting the feedback from the general public and after properly consulting the state governments, the National Education policy will be formally announced by the government.

He assured that the government under the leadership of the prime minister Narendra Modi is committed for equal development and promotion of all Indian languages.

There will therefore be no imposition of any language in educational institutions, nor discrimination against any language.

The clarification letter has been signed by R. Subrahmaniyam, Secretary HRD.

It may be recalled that the leaders of all political parties of the south including Congress, the splintered group of AIADMK, actor turned politician Kamal Hassan n even the Congress leader of Tamilnadu K Raju has opposedthe imposition on Hindi in schools of thesouth.

They said that the entire south India will oppose this decision tooth and nail and the consequences would be disastrous.

In was in this context that the union HRD minister n its sectretay Dr. Pokhriyal and Subrahmaniam has to issue the written clarification.

Election in several southern states are likely to be helf in the near future and the NDA government would never take the risk of annoying the electorates of the southern states.
