Filmmaker Karan Johar for a very long time was fighting a legal battle. He had a pending case pertaining to two financial years 2005-2006 and 2008-2009 for the films Kaal and Dostana respectively. Income Tax Department had filed an appeal which was dismissed by the High Court, as per reports in Mumbai Mirror. The tabloid also revealed that if the case was won by the IT Department, Dharma Productions had to pay the amount of Rs 7 crore as expenses.

It so happened that Dharma Productions had claimed Rs 2.67 crore as expenses for the film Kaal for positive prints and advertisement, while the production house claimed Rs 4.46 crore as expenses for the film Dostana advertisement expenses. IT Dept had ruled out that such expenses were not allowed and filed an appeal against the production house.

However, HC has given their verdict in favour of Dharma Productions and they have won the long-running case.
