Leaders are deserting Congress Party before the Delhi Assembly Elections
The former member of parliament from Outer Delhi and a senior Delhi Congress leader of Bihar origin, extremely popular amongst the Poorvanchalies of Delhi, Mahabal Mishra has been suspended from Congress Party yesterday.
Mishra has been charged by the Congress high command for working against the party interests in the ongoing Delhi elections. In a letter of suspension sent to Mahabal Mishra the party’s general secretary in-charge of Delhi Congress P C Chacko has written that Sh. Mahabal Mishra, Ex-MP has been suspended from the Congress Party with immediate effect for anti part activities with regard to the ongoing Delhi Assembly Elections.
Senior Congress leader Mishra had also been the member of the legislative assembly for three terms during the tenure of late Shiela Dikshit government and is quite a popular leader amongst the Poorvanchalies in Delhi. His son Vinay Mishra has been given the Aam Admi Party ticket from Dwarka assembly seat against the Congress candidate Adarsh Shastri who is the grandson of Ex prime minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri. Adarsh Shastri was denied the AAP’s ticket and had therefore defected to Congress recently.
There were accusations that Mahabal Mishra worked against the party candidate in Dwarka in order to ensure his son’s victory at the hustings though the letter of suspension issued to the former by party’s Delhi in-charge has not specified anything clearly about the nature of anti-party activities of erstwhile Congress leader Mahabal Mishra. The expulsion of a senior leader during the ongoing Delhi elections is bound to have an adverse political impact on the party’s chances as the position of Congress is already in doldrums. Recently former Congress MLA Netaji Ram Singh and several other leaders have joined the AAM AADMI PARTY creating quite a stir in the Congress party.
