Maharashtra: Aircraft crashes near Baramati, trainee pilot escapes with broken hand
It was a close shave for a trainee pilot from Baramati based private aviation training institute after the aircraft he was flying crashed near Rui village in Indapur tehsil in Pune district.
The incident took place at around 12 noon when the trainee pilot was on his regular training sortie. The pilot who has been identified as Siddharth Titus has escaped with minor injuries after the crash. According to police, the training aircraft belongs to the Carver aviation training institute in Baramati. The injured trainee pilot has been associated with the institute for last three years.
A police officer from Walchandnagar police station who rushed to crash site told DNA, “According to the preliminary information, the aircraft had taken off from Baramati base and when the pilot was flying over Rui village, the aircraft is suspected to have developed some technical snag and it crashed on an open ground near a school.”
There was only one pilot inside the cockpit when the aircraft crashed. The injured pilot was immediately rushed to a hospital. Dr Vinod Shingade, who gave the primary medical aid to the injured trainee pilot said, “The injured trainee pilot has not received any life-threatening injuries. His right hand is fractured and he has been shifted to a government hospital in Baramati.”
The police officials have stated that they will be recording statements of the pilot as well as the officials from the aviation institute to find out the cause of the crash.
