mobilisation on social networking sites lead to the arrest of molesters
A picture and videos of few unscrupulous men fighting and allegedly molesting a woman in Buradi, in North West Delhi has gone viral since the day of holi festival. The woman victim and her husband hailing from Uttarakhand but living in Delhi had complained to the police about their being thrashed and molested badly when the lady’s husband objected to the undesirable activities of these culprits on the day of holi, creating nuisance.
Instead of apologising they started thrashing one Mr. Bisht and when his wife objected and requested them to leave her husband, not only was she molested but shockingly her clothes were also torned in the public, using fisticuffs and muscle power. Since then there was tremendous protest in Burari and within the Uttarakhand community in Delhi with social networking sites FB and twitter highlighting this obnoxious act of woman’s molestation and thrashing of her husband as well, thus demanding the forthwith arrest of the culprits who were many in numbers. The vedio from ground Zero became viral and sentiments of the people within the Uttarakhand community in and outside Delhi became outrageous with people demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile, on the request of Dr.Vinod Bacheti of Uttarakhand Ekta Manch, the union state minister for textiles Ajay Tamta spoke to senior police officers and demanded the arrest of the culprits. The latest news indicate that the Additonal DCP of the area Harendra Singh has informed that two of the culprits have been arrested while the rest are absconding but will soon be in the police net. The unity of the right thinking people against the unprovoked thrashing and molestation of an innocent woman and her peace loving husband has finally accompanied fruitful results and the culprits are behind bars. Several Uttarakhandi organisations of the capital have appealed to the authorities not to spare these unscrupulous elements at any cost and should be tried under the strictest sections of the law.
