NON BJP OPPOSITION UNITY SEEMS TO BE ON FAST TRACK AFTER JANTAR MANTAR DHARNA OF ALL NON BJP OPPOSITION PARTIES

The conglomeration of the key opposition leaders at Jantar Mantar yesterday i.e. on 4th of August against the most serious issue of mass rapes in a Shelter home in Bihar is yet another succesful attempt by the non BJP opposition parties of the country to consolidate the unity efforts in a more cohesive manner in the run up to the 2019 general elections.

The presence of the Congress president Rahul Gandhi, the Loktantrik Janata Dal president Sharad Yadav, the CPM general Secretary Sitaram Yachury, the CPI leaders D. Raja and Atul Kumar Anjan, the RJD president and Lalu Yadav’s son Tejasvi Yadav , Trinamool Congress leader Dinesh Trivedi and the Delhi chief Minister Arvind Kejrival etc in the protest Dharna against the Nitish Yadav BJP coalition government and the centre’s BJP led NDA government has unambiguously given an impression that the non BJP opposition forces have now formally made up their mind to come together to collectively fight the BJP led NDA in the hustings in and before 2019.

In the recently concluded no confidence motion against the government in the lok sabha tabled by the Telegu Desam Party the former NDA ally, the entire opposition have stood together behind TDP n Congress with Rahul Gandhi most vociferously criticizing the union government on various issues such as Rafale, unemployment, injustice with Andhra Pradesh, inflation, mob lynchings and several other issues of national significance.

Though the no confidence motion fell down as was expected due to already existing sizeable majority of the BJP led NDA in the house but it did accorded the entire non BJP opposition a golden opportunity to expose the present political dispensation to the fullest duly lauded by the people of the country and widely covered by the print and electronic media.

It also helped the non BJP opposition to stand united as a formidable anti BJP force that may finally crystallise as a powerful juggernaut to confront Modi’s charisma which seems to be on a downward slide in the 2019 general elections.

In addition to this successful experiment the controvertial issue of excluding about 40 lakh voters from the NRC in Assam, strongly condemned by the TMC chief Mamta Bannerjee, has also witnessed a strong opposition in both the houses of Parliament by the entire non BJP parties standing together cohesively.

The TMC chief Mamta Bannerjee recently met all the opposition leaders in Delhi for the second time and elicited their positive response in her tireless efforts to unify the non BJP opposition which signifies the positive ongoing efforts of this cohesive unity.

What happens in 2019 is though completely uncertain but keeping in view the recent losses of the BJP in the byelections held in Uttar Pradesh’s Phulpur, Gorakhpur, Kairana and Rajasthan’s Alvar and in another parliamentary constituencies and in Maharashtra as well, one can definitely arrive at ( to) the conclusion that if the non BJP forces really unite earnestly at the central and state levels, particularly before the elections in three states where the BJP is in power for the last two/ three terms viz Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, it can for sure defeat the BJP at the hustings as anti incumbency is the major factor that works as an added advantageous instrument favouring the non BJP opposition.

Political analysts predict that an absolute and earnest understanding in seat sharing under the leadership of the party having maximum influence in these states like Congress, may result in defeating the ruling saffron party which will throw a very positive impact in favour of the anti BJP oppositionprospects in the 2019 elections.

But, in case they fight on seat sharing and do not kill their vested and squeezed political interests for a broader cause of unity, the saffron party and its NDA allies are bound to stage a come back most conveniently as vote division of ideologies, caste and communities had always helped the party, mastered in the art of polarisation in religious lines, come to power.
