While Uttarakhand is to go to polls on 11th April and the campaigning by political parties are on full swing there is a Gram Sabha comprising of few villages called Dhobighat under the jurisdiction of Chawbatta khal legislative constituency in Pauri Garhwal where badly angered, annoyed, disenchanted n furious electorates have decided not to vote.

The Gram Sabha falls under Bironkhal Syunsi area under Chawbatta khal constituency represented by the sitting MLA and the cabinet minister of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand.

The voters have serious complaints n grudge against the sitting member of parliament of BJP Major General B C Khanduri as well as the sitting BJP lawmaker n minister Satpal Pal Maharaj as their repeated pleas and written representations have met with no response during the last five years.

The voters are extremely furious and are now in no mood to relent. The minister of tourism Satpal Maharaj who visited Gram Sabha Dhobighat at Syunsi Bironkhal on 8th April to canvass support for the BJP’s parliamentary candidate Tirath Singh Rawat was confronted with stiff resistence and Go Back slogans. Even go back n no vote till no road slogans were raised by the furious women electorates n girl students.

It was raining cats and dogs and Satpal Maharaj alongwith his supporters stopped at Gram Sabha Dhobi ghat to seek their support. Disenchanted n badly angered the local populace with a banner in their hands n raising ,”Go Back Go Back,” slogans rented the air in the presence of the minister tourism n MLA Maharaj arguing with him and asking him to go back.

The voters were disenchanted as their demand for road in their area connnecting the villages have not been met till date despite their long pending demand n number of repeated requests.

According to them their request for road have gone into deaf ears of both the sitting BJP member of parliament B. C. Khanduri and the local MLA n minister Satpal Maharaj.

The school children were carrying a banner mentioning : ROAD NAHI TO VOTE NAHI, LOK SABHA CHUNAV 2019 KA BAHISHKAAR, KRIPYA VOTE MAANGKAR SHARMINDA NA KAREN. ( NO VOTE TILL ROAD IS NOT CONSTRUCTED, BOYCOTT OF LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019, PLEASE DON’T SHAME US BY PLEADING FOR VOTE)

According to the electorates of Gram Sabha Dhobighat in the absence of the roads they have to walk several kilometres and number of patients have died on the way while ferrying them to hospital on foot for treatment. The students too are suffering badly as they too areconstrained to walk on foot for several kilometres to school n back home.

While expressing their immense displesure over the non cooperation of their MP n MLA despite their umpteen request for road in their area, the villagers say that on the one hand the government is worried for the tourists reaching the Chardham by expediting the work on Chardham Yatra Roads spending 12000 crores, it’s least bothered to fulfill their genuine demand.

They were sepecifically annoyed with the sitting MP Khanduri who’d not turned to their areas even for once to listen to their genuine grievance not to speak of fulfilling their demand for a road.

Chowbattakhal MLA n minister Satpal Maharaj assured the electorates of fulfilling their demand in the near future and appealed them to vote for the BJP’s Pauri Garhwal constituency Tirath Singh Rawat. However, the furious residents of Gram Sabha Dhobighaat were not ready to relent.
